surah 90 the city

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

I confess by this Holy City, Makkah,

and you, O Muhammad, that you are free from restriction therein.

And, by Adam, and those who were born from him,

We created mankind into hardship thereby.

Has he come to think that never will any overcome him?

He says, “I have spent my wealth in abundance.”

Does he think that no one sees him?

Did We not create him with two eyes,

 a tongue and lips?

And, didn’t We show him the two paths, right from wrong?

But, he has not broken through to the Path of Righteousness.

And, what do you Know of the Path of Righteousness?

It is the freeing of a slave,

or, the feeding of an orphan,

or the feeding of a needy person who is suffering.

And, they are among those who Believe in God,

and who advise one another of patience, and compassion.

They are on the Right Path, and are Companions of the Garden.

But, they who DisBelieve in Our Signs –

those are the Companions of the wrong path.

Over them the Fiery Blaze will engulf them.
