surah 65 divorce

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

O Holy Prophet Muhammad, when a Muslim divorces a woman be sure

she is not pregnant prior to doing so, and fear God, your Sovereign Lord.

Do not turn her out of her husband’s home, nor have her leave,

or it would be considered immoral.  And, those are the laws set by Allah.

And, whoever sins against the laws set by God have wronged himself.

You never know, perhaps He will cause them to reconcile.

And, when the parties have fulfilled their term, either keep the wife

on acceptable terms, or part with acceptable terms to both parties.

And, bring to witness two just people of age from among you,

and establish the testimony for the judgment of Allah.

That is instructed to occur for those who Believe in God, and the Day of Judgment.

And, whoever fears Allah, will find their suffering and distress diminished.

And, He will provide for them from places they would not expect.

And, whoever relies in God, then He is sufficient for them.

Indeed, God will fulfill his promises.

And, He has set for everything a set term.

And, as for a wife who questionably may not be able to bear children,

the waiting period is three months.

And, if she is pregnant, then the waiting term is until she gives birth.

And, whoever fears God, He will make it easy on them.

This is the message of God which He has sent down to you.

And, whoever is conscious of God, and treats others kindly,

He will remove the misdeeds of this life, and give him a just reward.

During the divorce waiting period, give the woman accommodations,

and do not harm her, or oppress her in any way.

And, if the woman is pregnant, then provide for her until she gives birth.

And, if the parties are in agreement and getting along together,

then provide for her during breastfeeding.

 If not, breastfeeding can be obtained from another source.

Let a wealthy man spend from his wealth,

 and let a poor man provide from what God gives him.

God does not charge against a soul anything except what it has earned in life.

After hardship, Allah will bring an ending to the distress.

And, how many civilizations who disrespected God’s laws

 and His Messengers were cast away?

It was not a very good accounting,

 and they were punished with a great punishment for their misdeeds.

And, it tasted the grave consequences for its rebellion,

and the outcome was a total loss.

God has prepared for them a serious punishment.

O you who Believe, fear God.

Allah has sent down to you the Message of the Qur’an.

He has sent a Messenger, the Prophet Muhammad,

to recite to you the verses of the Noble Qur’an.

Those who Believe in God, and do Righteous good deeds,

He will bring them

from the Darkness into the Light.

He will admit them into Gardens of Paradise,

with flowing rivers beneath, to abide therein eternally.

God will give the Believers perfected sustenance in the Gardens,

and Paradise springs to drink from.

Allah created Seven Heavens, and the earth, liken to them.

His authority descends over them so that you may know

that He is over all things competent and aware.

And, Allah encompasses all in His Majestic Knowledge.
