surah 55 most merciful

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

 

The Most Merciful

descended the Qur’an,

created Mankind,

and instructed him in eloquence.

The sun and the moon move by defined movements,

and the stars and the trees bow down in submission to Allah.

And the Heavens He raised up, and He set a balance.

And, do not upset the balance.

And, He established the criterion of justice.

And, do not lessen the balance.

And, the earth He spread out for all of His creatures,

and therein is sustenance of fruit and palm trees, covered in dates,

and grains with husks, and scented plants as well.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will

the two of you, Jinn and Mankind, reject?

He created mankind from an earthen clay.

And, He created the jinn from a smokeless Fire.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

And, He is the Sovereign Lord of the two sunrises

and Sovereign Lord of the two sunsets,

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you refute?

He liberated the two seas, adjoining them side by side.

And, He created a barrier between them so neither of them would enter the other.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you refuse?

From both of them appear pearl and coral.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you reject?

And, to Him belong the sailing ships,

He lifts them up like mountains.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

Everyone will one day perish,

while He will remain, your Sovereign Lord of Majesty and Tribute.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you reject?

All that is in the Heavens and earth inquire to Him;

and every day He brings about a matter for each of His creatures.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

We will attend to you both, jinn and mankind.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

O jinn and mankind, if you can go to the outer limits beyond the heavens,

then do so.  You will not do so without the command of Allah.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you refute?

There will descend upon you a flame of fire and smoke,

and you will not defend yourselves.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

And, when the heavens open up and become a rose hue,

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you reject?

Then, on that Day none will be inquired again about

their sins after their Judgment to the Fire had been given.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

The evildoers will be recognized by their marks,

and they will be grabbed by their hair and their feet.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you refute?

This is Hellfire, which the evildoers will deny.

They will reside therein with scalding water, heated to the highest degree.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

But, for the one who stands before their Sovereign Lord

 for accounting are Two Gardens -

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you reject?

that have spreading branches.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

In both of them, are flowing springs.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you withhold from?

In both of them are abundant sustenance of every kind of fruits.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you reject?

They will recline on beds with linings of silk brocade,

and the fruit of the two gardens will hang low to be picked from.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

In them are pure and devoted spouses, untouched by jinn or mankind -

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you refuse?

as if they were precious jewels of rubies and coral.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you refuse?

Is the reward for doing good anything but good?

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you not accept?

And, below them in excellence are two more Gardens of Paradise –

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you not accept?

Dark lush and green in color.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you refuse?

In both of the Gardens are gushing Springs.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

In both of the Gardens are abundant fruit, palm trees and pomegranates.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you turn away?

In them are kind and stunning spouses –

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you deny?

the gentle ones set aside in pavillions –

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you refuse?

Untouched by jinn or mankind before -

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you turn away?

reclining on green pillows and gorgeous plush carpets.

So, which of the Sovereign Lord’s blessings will you refuse?
