surah 54 the moon

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

 

The Hour has drawn near, and the moon has split into two.

And, if they see a sign from their Sovereign Lord, they turn away,

saying “It is just prolonged magic.”

And, they denied the Signs and followed what they willed.

But, for every matter is a time of settlement.

And, there already came to them information

 that would deter them from DisBelief –

All-embracing Knowledge,

 but the warnings therein did not stop them.

So leave them, O Muhammad,

for on the Day the Horn Blows they will be called to something horrible.

Their eyes will be humbled, and they will rise up from their graves like locusts.

Racing toward toward the Angel for the Final Accounting,

the DisBelievers will say, “This is not an easy day.”

The People of Noah denied the Truth before them,

and they rejected this Prophet as well, calling him “A crazy man," and he was cast out.

So, he called upon His Sovereign Lord, saying, “Verily, I am overpowered,

 please help me.”

Then, we opened the Gates of Heaven and sent forth rain down,

and caused the earth to gush forth with water,

and the waters came together for the predetermined event.

And, We carried him in safety with his construction of wood planks and nails,

sailing under Our Guidance as a reward for his Belief.

And, we left it as a Sign, so that they may remember.

And, how swift and severe was My punishment,

and it was a warning to the latter civilizations.

And, We made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember,

so is there anyone who will remember it?

Thamud denied the Signs,

and said, “Is it but one human being that we should follow?

Indeed, we would be in error to do so and it would be mad.

Has the Message been sent down to a man from among us?

Rather, he is an impudent liar.”

They will know in the end who is the impudent liar.

Indeed, We sent the she-camel as a trial for them, so observe them and wait.

And, let them know that the water is shared between them,

with each taking a turn.

But, they called out to the worst of their friends,

and He killed the camel and hamstrung her.

And, how harsh was My punishment for doing this.

Indeed, We sent a blast from the sky and their bodies became like dry twigs

from an animal pen.

And, We made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember,

so is there anyone who will remember it?

The people of Lot also rejected the Signs.

Verily, We sent a storm of stones upon them, except for Lot’s family –

We saved them from destruction before dawn

as an act of kindness from Us.  Thus, We reward the grateful.

And, he had already warned them about the pending doom,

but they rejected the warnings.

And, they demanded his supporters from him,

 but We annihilated their eyes, saying, “Taste of My punishment

and Heed My Word of Warning.”

And, We made the Qur’an easy to understand and remember,

so is there anyone who will remember it?

And, there also came to the civilization of the Pharaoh another warning.

They also denied all of Our Signs so We destroyed them

with an assault besuiting the Most Exalted in Might and Most Competent.

Are your DisBelievers like the ones before,

 or do have feel you have exemption from the Scriptures?

Or, do they say, “We are a people who support one another and that is sufficient?”

Their gathering will be defeated, and they will turn back in retreat.

But, the Hour is their appointed time for due punishment,

and it is more destructive in nature and more distressful.

Indeed, the DisBelievers are in error and are in the Blazing Fire.

That Day they will driven to the Fire, and it will be said on their faces,

“Taste the touch of Hell.”

Indeed, We created all things and each has a predestination.

And, Our command is united, like a set of eyes moving as one.

And, We already seized the DisBelievers before you,

is there anyone who will remember it?

And, everything they did in life is recorded on their record,

and every small and great thing is inscribed therein.

Indeed, the Righteous will be among those in the Gardens of Paradise,

with rivers flowing beneath,

in a position of excellence and honor with their Sovereign Lord,

the Most Proficient.
