(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)
By the mountain,
and by the Book inscribed,
with parchment laid open,
and by the angels who worship in the House of God in the Seventh Heaven,
and by the Heavens He raised high, and by the seas filled,
verily, the judgment of your Sovereign Lord will come about.
Of it, there is none other than He who can put a stop to it.
On Resurrection Day, the heavens will swirl in a circular motion,
and the mountains will depart, and disappear like clouds of dust.
Then despair will come on that Day to the DisBelievers,
who are engaged in empty discourse amongst themselves.
That Day they will be hurled toward the fire of Hell
with a powerful force, and the angels watching on will say,
“This is the Fire you used to renounce.
Then, is this sorcery, or do you now understand?
Enter to burn therein, and whether you are in a hurry or not, it is all the same for you.
You are being punished for what you used to do in life.”
In contrast, the Righteous will dwell in the Gardens of Happiness,
enjoying what their Sovereign Lord endowed to them,
and He will protect them from the punishment of Hellfire.
They will be told, “Eat and drink as a reward for all you used to do.”
They will be reclining on arranged thrones,
and We will marry them to devoted spouses with large, kind eyes.
And, those who Believed, and their ancestors following them in Faith,
We will join them altogether again,
and We will not withhold any reward coming to them
on account of their Righteous good deeds.
Every person, for what it has earned because of his or her deeds or misdeeds,
will be held accountable.
And, We will provide them with meat and fruit to eat of what they may desire.
They will share a cup of the finest nectar together,
wherein no unkind words will be heard, nor any sin transgressed.
And fine cherubs will circulate amongst them, like fine pearls.
And, they will approach one another in kind discourse,
inquiring about one another.
They will say, “Indeed, we used to be among the God fearing people.
So, Allah gave us His Mercy and shielded us from the punishment of the Fire.
We indeed prayed to Him before.
He is indeed the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.”
So remind them, O Prophet Muhammad, for you are by your
Sovereign Lord’s blessing not a soothsayer, nor a crazy man.
Or do they say of you, “You are a poet with a grievous misfortune for us.”
Say to them, “Be patient, for I too, am among the patient.”
Do their minds cause them to say this, or are they a sinful people?
Or do they say, “He is making this all up himself.”
Indeed, they do not Believe.
Then let them produce a surah like this, if they are really Truthful.
Or, were they created by nothing at all, or maybe they think they created themselves?
Or, did they create all the heavens and the earth?
Indeed, on this, they are not quite certain.
Or, do they possess anything like the Bounty of our Sovereign Lord?
And, are they the controllers of it?
Or, do they have a special staircase to Heaven just for them?
Then, let them give clear proof of this.
Or, has He progeny, while you have sons and daughters?
Or, have you O Prophet Muhammad, asked something of them in return,
so they feel burdened down?
Or, do they possess Knowledge of the Unseen and have written it down in Truth?
Or, have they devised some special plan?
But, those who DisBelieve, are the objects of the plan.
Or, do they think they possess a deity other than God?
Exalted is Allah far above from whatever they may associate with Him.
And, if they were to see a piece of the sky falling, they would say,
“It is just a bunch of clouds piled together.”
So depart from them until they encounter the Day
when they will be struck senseless –
The Day their best laid plans will not avail them,
nor will there be any assistance for them.
And, indeed for those who DisBelieve is punishment in either this life,
or the Hereafter, but yet most of them still do not understand.
And, persevere, O Prophet Muhammad, for the judgment of your Sovereign Lord,
for indeed, We have you in Our sight.
And exalt your Sovereign Lord when you arise,
and exalt and give praise to Him at the beginning of the night,
and when the stars are assembled in the skies.
