surah 47 muhammad

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

 

Those who DisBelieve and turn away others from God’s Path,

He will cause their good deeds to be worthless.

But, those who Believe in God and do Righteous good deeds,

and Believe in the Truth that was descended down to the Prophet Muhammad

from their Sovereign Lord,

He will forgive your bad deeds, and make them right.

This is because those who DisBelieve follow nothing but deception,

and those who Believe follow the Truth from their Sovereign Lord.

Thus, does Allah present the differences so that people can make the Right choice.

So, if you must meet the DisBelievers in battle, defend yourself with a vengeance,

and take the remaining captives, and either release them without ransom,

 or with ransom when the conflict is over.

And, if God so willed, He would take vengeance against them Himself.

But, conflict is a trial to test some of you by the use of others.

And, those who perish doing charity, or others Righteous good causes,

never will He relinquish their good deeds.

He will Guide whom He wills, and change what He wills.

And, He will welcome the Believers into Gardens of Paradise,

which He has Revealed to them.

All you who Believe, if you follow God, He will make you strong,

and firmly plant your feet on the Right Path.

However, for those who do not Believe in Him – for them is despair and sorrow,

and He will relinquish their good deeds.

This is because they rejected what He Revealed,

so He rendered their deeds of no value.

Haven’t they looked at history, and seen what their end was?

God destroyed everything they owned, and took their lives,

and for the DisBelievers is a similar punishment.

This is because God protects those who Believe in Him,

and the DisBelievers have no protector, nor helper.

Verily, Allah will welcome those who Believe,

and do Righteous good deeds, to Gardens of Paradise,

beneath which rivers flow.

But, those who DisBelieve preoccupy themselves with pleasure,

stuffing themselves with food like barn animals without gratitude,

prone to waste, and without charity to those in need,

and Hellfire will be their home.

And, how many civilizations were stronger than Makkah that were cast out.

They were destroyed; and there was nothing to help them.

So is the person who Believes in the Clear Evidence of their Sovereign Lord

 the same as someone who enjoys his evil works made attractive,

following their own pleasures?

Is the visualization of the Gardens of Paradise that the Righteous are promised,

where abundant pure cool springs flow,

and streams of pure cream, and pure honey,

 and fruit juices delicious to drink from,

and a selection of a variety of fruits to pick from,

as well as Forgiveness from their Sovereign Lord,

the same as those who dwell eternally in the Fiery Blaze,

and given scalding water to drink?

And, among them, O Muhammad, are those who say they are listening to you,

but when they leave your presence, they say to your friends,

“What did he just say?"

Those are the people whose hearts God has sealed over,

and who follow their own whims and pleasures.

And, those who are Guided, He increases their Knowledge of the Truth,

and endows them with Rigtheousness.

So, do they sit around waiting for Judgment Day to hit them unexpectedly then?

There has already come some of its indications.

Then, what good to them will it be when it comes, will they remember Him then?

So know, O Muhammad, that there is no god except the One True God,

and ask forgiveness for your sins, and for those of the Believing people.

And, God is the All Knowing; He Knows when you travel about,

as well as when and where you rest.

Some may say, “Why hasn’t more verses been descended down to us?”

And, when a surah is Revealed to them, you find hypocrisy in their hearts,

looking at you like you are killing them or something.

And, a more appropriate response from them would have been

kind words and respect.

And, when the matter was resolved, it would have been better for them

if they had listened with sincerity, being true to God.

So, would you turn away from Him, causing corruption and evil on earth,

and sever your Faith?

God has cursed those who do so, deafening their ears to the Truth,

and blinding them to the Light.

So, do you reflect upon the Qur’an, or are there locks on their hearts?

Indeed, those who revert back to DisBelief after Guidance had reached them,

Satan attracted them and extended hope for them.

This is because they did not like the Truth of what God had descended to them,

saying, “We will follow you in part.”

And, God knows what they hide.

Then, what will it be like when the angels of death come, striking them?

This is because they followed what angered God,

and did not like what pleased God, so He rendered their deeds useless.

Or, do those who hearts are tainted with evil think that

God will never expose their true feelings of hatred?

And, if He willed to do so, He would show them to you,

and you could identify them by the mark given them;

but, you will most assuredly know them by how they talk.

And, God knows your deeds.

And, We will most assuredly test you until it is apparent who is

striving in charity and in God’s good causes, and who is enduring in Faith.

And, We will examine your affairs.

Verily, those who turn away from God’s Path and DisBelieve,

and who oppose God’s Servant after he had offered them Clear Guidance –

never will they hurt God at all, and He will render all their deeds useless.

All you who Believe, follow God and His Servant, Muhammad,

and do not undo your Righteous good deeds.

Verily, those who turn away from God’s Path and DisBelieve,

and perish while in a state of DisBelief – never will God forgive them.

So do not weaken in Faith, and ask for peace even though you are winning,

and God is always with you, and will not relinquish your deeds.

This earthly life is but gratification and diversion.

And, if you Believe, and are conscious and fear Him,

He will give you your just rewards, and not ask you for anything.

If He did ask you to give up your property, many would withhold them,

And, He would reveal your true nature.

Here you are – asked to spend in charity and in God’s good causes,

but there are some among you who would withhold them out of greed.

And, whoever withholds from spending in charity,

only withholds benefit for himself.

And, God is free of all need,

while mankind is the one who is in need.

And, if you turn away from Him,

He will replace you with another people who will Believe in Him,

and they will not be like you.
