surah 45 genuflection

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

 

Ha, Meem.

The Revelation of the Qur’an is from God,

 the Most Exalted in Might, the Most Knowledgeable.

Indeed, throughout the Heavens and the Earth are Signs for those who Believe.

And, by the creation of mankind, and the other living things He scattered about,

are Signs for those who are strong in their Faith.

And, by the alternating night and day,

and by what Allah descends down from the skies in the form of rain,

and the winds filled with life, gives life to the barren earth,

and in that, are Signs for people who understand the Truth.

This is the Word of God that We recite to you in Truth.

So, in what Decree will they Believe in, if not the Word of God?

Misery to every sinful transgressor, who hears the Word of God

recited to him, but arrogantly continues on as if he hadn’t heard it.

So, confer to him the agonizing punishment of Hellfire.

And, when he understands something about the Word of God,

he makes fun of it.

Those are the people who will bear the humiliating punishment.

Before them will be set Hellfire, and their good deeds will not help them,

nor will the beings they call upon besides God.

And, they will have an immense punishment.

This Qur’an is Guidance for mankind. 

And, those who do not Believe in the Word of God will have

an agonizing punishment of an unpleasant nature.

It is God who subjected the seas to His Command so you may sail upon them,

that you may seek of His infinite Bounty.

And, perhaps you may be grateful and Believe in Him.

And, all that is in the Heavens and all that is on the earth is from Him.

And indeed, in that, is a Sign for a people who Believe.

O Muhammad, tell those who Believe that they should be forgiving of others,

as Allah is forgiving of them.

And, He will reward people for what they are worthy of.

Whoever does a Righteous good deed – it is for his own soul; and,

whoever does evil, is against his soul.

And, to your Sovereign Lord God will you all be returned.

And, We gave the Hebrews the Scripture and understanding of God’s Law,

as well as a Prophet, and God provided them with sustenance,

and gave them fondness over the worlds.

And, We provided them with Clear Proof in the matter of religion.

And, they did not become to differ until after the Truth had reached them-

out of jealous hatred between themselves.

Verily, your Sovereign Lord God will judge between them on Judgment Day

concerning that on which they differed.

And, O Muhammad, We placed you on the Guided Path concerning Faith;

so follow God’s Path, and do not be led astray by those who do not Understand.

Verily, they will not help you against God at all.

And, indeed, those who commit evil are friends of one another;

but God is the protector of the Righteous Believers.

This Qur’an is enlightenment and Truth for mankind.

It is Guidance and Mercy for people who are strong in Faith.

Or, do those who commit evil think that they will reside among

the Righteous Believers, those who do good deeds,

making them equal both in life on earth and in the Hereafter?

No, evil is the punishment those who do evil will assume.

And, God created the Heavens and the earth in Truth so that every soul

may be rewarded for the deeds it has done in life,

and He will not be unethical in Judgment for God is the Most Just.

Have you seen a person who has taken his own selfish pleasures as his master?

And, God will let him go from the Right Path based

on His Knowledge of that man’s soul.

He will set a seal over his heart and hearing,

and, over his eyes will be a shroud.

So, who then will Guide him after God has cast him out?

Then, will you not think about this?

And, they say, “There is nothing but our worldly life. 

We live and die, and nothing destroys us but time.”

And, they have no genuine knowledge of that, they are but presuming.

And, when Our Clear Verses are recited to them as Clear Proof,

their argument is only, “Bring our ancestors back from the dead,

 if you are truthful.”

Say to them, “God gives us life, and created death.

And, He will gather you all together on Resurrection Day,

the Day about which there is no uncertainty,

but most people do not know this.”

And, to God belongs the power of the Heavens and the earth.

And, on Judgment Day when the Horn is blown, the hypocrites will lose.

And, you will see every nation genuflecting on their knees out of fear.

Every nation’s deeds will be counted on its record, and told,

Today, you will be punished for what you used to do.

This record is a Final Accounting and is wholly truthful.

Verily, We have angels who record each deed of whatever you used to do.”

So, as for those who Believed, and did Righteous good deeds,

their Sovereign Lord God will welcome them into His Mercy.

This is unmistakably the great attainment.

But, as for those who DisBelieved, it will be said to them,

“Wasn’t Our Verses recited to you?  You became arrogant pertaining

to matters of Faith, and became perversely rebellious.

And, when you were told, ‘Indeed, God’s Promise is the Truth,

and the Final Hour is coming,’

 you said, ‘We don’t know what the Final Hour is,

we can only guess, and we’re not convinced.’”

And, the bad consequences of what they did in life will come to them,

and they will be engulfed by that which they laughed about.

And, it will be said to them, “Today We will forget you as you forgot

the encounter of this Final Day, and your final refuge is the Fire,

and for you there will be no one to help you, nor any helper besides God.

This is because you took God’s Word and laughed about it,

and your material life led you astray.”

So, on that Day they will not be removed from it,

nor will they be asked at that time to repent to Him.

Then, to God belongs all glory and praise – Sovereign Lord of the Heavens,

and Sovereign Lord of the earth,

Lord over all the worlds.

And, to Him belongs all greatness within the heavens and the earth,

and He is the Most Exalted in Might, the All Knowing.
