surah 39 the gatherings

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

 

The Revelation of the Qur’an is from God,

the Most Exalted in Might, the Most Wise.

Verily, We have descended this Book down to you,

 O Muhammad, in Truth.

So worship and give praise to God with a sincere heart.

Undoubtedly, Belief in Him is the True Faith.

And, those who call upon others to protect them say,

“O, we were only worshipping them to get closer to You.”

Without a doubt, God will judge between them all over what they differ on.

Certainly, God does not Guide people who lie and who do not Believe in Him.

God does not beget children, but if He were to,

He would choose from His Faithful Servants.

Exalted above all is God; He is Allah, the One True God,

the Eternal.

He created all the Heavens and the earth in Truth.

He covers the night with the day,

and covers the day with the night,

and subjects the sun and the moon to His command,

each running its orbit for a specific term.

Undoubtedly, He is the Most Exalted in Might, the Most Forgiving One.

He created mankind all from one soul.

Then, He fashioned for it its counterpart,

and He created for you grazing animals as sustenance from Him.

He gives life to you in the womb of your mothers,

life after life, from within the Three Darknesses.

That is Allah, your Sovereign Lord God, and to Him belongs all power.

There is no God save Him, so why do you turn away in DisBelief?

And, if you DisBelieve, you should know that God is free of need of you.

And, He cannot allow His Servants to not Believe in Him.

And, He is pleased when His Followers are thankful to Him.

In the End, each will bear the burden of his or her actions in life.

Then, to Your Sovereign Lord you will all return,

and He will talk with you about all you used to do.

For, He Knows all that is the hearts of mankind.

And, when something bad happens to a man, he beseeches his Lord,

turning to Him alone; but, when God bestows a blessing from Him alone,

he sometimes forgets Him,

or leads people astray from His Right Path.

Say to them, “Enjoy your DisBelief for a short time; but in the End,

you will be Companions of Hellfire.”

Is the person who worships during the night, bowing and standing in prayer,

who Believes in the Hereafter, and hopes for the Mercy of His Sovereign Lord,

like the person who does not?

Say, “Are the ones who Believe in the Truth the same as those who don’t?”

Only, the people who Believe in the Truth will be Believers.

And God says: “ O My followers who Believe, be conscious of Me.

For those who do Righteous good deeds in life will have a great reward.

Indeed, the enduring Believers will be given their reward without limit.

Say, O Muhammad, “I have been blessed to worship Allah,

being sincere to him in faith and heart.

And, I have been blessed to be the first of the Muslims.

And, I fear, if I do not heed My Lord’s calling,

 the punishment of the Final Day.

To God alone do I worship, and I am sincere in my Belief.

Some of you may worship others than Him, but,

they will be of the Lost who will lose themselves and their families

on Judgment Day.  Undoubtedly, that is a Clear Loss.

They will have strata of fire above them, and below them.

By that, God warns the Believers.

And God says, “O My followers, be conscious and fear Me.”

But, those who avoided Satan, less they worshipped Him,

and who turn back to God, will be forgiven.

So, I give blessings to My followers,

who listen to my speech, and follow the paramount of the Truth.

They are the ones whom God has Guided, and they

are the Believers.

So, is one who deserves the punishment of Hellfire able to be Guided?

And, can you save someone who is destined for the Fiery Blaze of Hellfire?

But, those who Believe in God  - for them is a refuge built high,

with others built high above them,

with rivers flowing beneath.

This is God’s promise.  And, God does not fall short of His promises.

Do you notice that Allah descends rain down from the skies,

and makes water to flow in rivers and springs on the earth;

and, He creates various kinds and colors of crops thereby;

then they later die and turn yellow;

 and He makes them to scatter like dust.

Without a doubt, in that, is a Sign for those who Believe in Him.

So, is the person who accepts Faith with a sincere heart in Islam,

and is Guided by the Light of his Sovereign Lord God,

like the person whose heart denies Him?

Then, woe to those whose hearts are hardened, and who do not remember God.

They are clearly in error.

God has descended His Noble Word: an understandable Qur’an

 with recitation therein. 

Those who fear their Sovereign Lord God shiver with fear,

but their skins and hearts calm at His Remembrance.

And, God Guides whom He Wills to His Word.

And, the one who God has led astray – there is no guide for him.

So, is the person who tastes of the punishment of Judgment Day

like the one who is safe from it?

And, it will be said to those who did evil deeds in life,

“Taste of the punishment of that what you earned.”

And, the people before them did not Believe, and

punishment came to them from places from which they did not understand.

So, God made them to taste of the humiliating punishment in this earthly life.

But, the punishment of Hellfire is even greater, if they only could understand.

And, We have certainly presented in this Book specific examples,

so that they would remember what happens to the DisBelievers.

It is a Qur’an in your language, given to you in Truth,

so that they might become conscious of God and become a Believer.

And, God presents an example:  one slave is owned by several arguing men,

and another slave is owned by a single man, are they the same?

Praise be to God! But, some people do not understand basic human principles.

In reality, you will one day perish, and they will as well.

And, undoubtedly, you may on that Day stand before your Sovereign Lord arguing.

So, who is more unjust than the person who makes up lies about God,

and rejects the Truth when it has been given to him?

Is there a place in Hellfire for those who DisBelieve?

And, the one who has brought the Truth, and those who Believed in it,

they are among the Believers.

They will have what they deserve with their Sovereign Lord God.

That is the reward of those who do Righteous good deeds –

and, Allah will forgive their misdeeds,

and reward them for their just due for all the good they used to do in life.

Isn’t God sufficient enough for the Believers?

Yet some, associate and partners others with God unjustly.

And, whoever God leads astray – for him there is no guide.

And, whoever God Guides –

for him there is nothing that can lead him astray.

Isn’t God the Most Exalted in Might, the Owner of Judgment?

And, if you asked them, “Who created the Heavens and the earth,”

they would reply, “God.”

Say to them, “Have you thought about what you call upon besides God?

And, if God intended to harm me, would it remove His harm?

Or, if He granted me Mercy, would they withhold it?

Say to them, “Sufficient for me is God; and upon Him alone do the Believers rely.”

Say to them, “Labor according to your position in life, for I am working,

and you are going to come to know

to whom will be given the torment of humiliation

and whom will be given the eternal punishment of Hellfire.”

In reality, We descended down the Qur’an for mankind in Truth.

So whomever is Guided, it is best for his soul;

and whoever goes astray from the Right Path wrongs his ownself.

And, you, O Muhammad, are not responsible for what they Believe,

 or don’t Believe.

And, God takes the soul at the time one dies, and those that do not die,

He takes while they are asleep.

And, He keeps the ones he has marked for death, and lets the others go for a time.

And, in that, are Signs for those who Believe.

Or, have they taken something than God as helpers,

even though they do not have power over anything, or do not Understand?

Say to them, “To God belongs the power to assist entirely.

To Him belongs the power of the Heavens and the earth.

And, to Him is your final return.”

And, when His Holy Name is mentioned alone,

those whose hearts do not Believe in the Hereafter, diminish in size with hatred.

But, when those who they worship other than Him are mentioned, they rejoice.

Say to them, “O Sovereign Lord God, creator of the Heavens and the earth,

the Knowing of the Seen and the Unseen,

You are the Final Judge between your followers over that which they differ.”

And, if those who have done wrong had everything on the face of the earth,

they would ransom it on that Day.

And, God’s wrath would appear to them, that which they hadn’t bargained for.

And, the evil that they had done in life would appear to them,

and they would be engulfed by the Fiery Blaze that they used to laugh about.

And, when something bad happens to man, they call upon Us;

but, when a blessing is bestowed upon them, they say,

“It is has been given to me because of my Knowledge.”

But, in reality, it is a trial, but some of them do not know this.

Those before them had already tried to escape the wrath,

but they were not helped by the good they earned in life.

And, the evil outcome of what they used to do destroyed them.

And, those who have wronged other people will be destroyed by

what they earned; and they will not harm those who repent and Believe.

Do they know that God provides of His Sustenance to whom He wills,

and removes it?

Without a doubt, in that are Signs for those who Believe.

Say to them, “O My followers who have sinned against yourselves,

do not despair about God’s Mercy.  For those who repent

and follow the Right Path, God will forgive your sins.

Indeed, it is God who is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.”

And, turn in repentance to your Sovereign Lord God,

and worship Him so that punishment will not befall you;

then, you will not be helped.

And, follow the best of the teachings of the Qur’an,

Revealed to you from Your Sovereign Lord God,

before the punishment befalls you for DisBelief,

or a soul could say on the Day, “ Oh, I am full of regret for neglecting

Allah, and I was among those who made fun of it.”

Or, the soul would say, “If only God had Guided me to the Right Path,

I would certainly have been among the Believers.”

Or, it could say when it sees the punishment coming, “If only I had another

chance, I would be among those who do good.”

But yes, you were given God’s Noble Word, but you were arrogant and rejected it,

and you are one of the DisBelievers.

And, you will see on Judgment Day those who lied about God,

and their faces will be filled with Darkness.

And, isn’t there a place in Hellfire for those who are arrogant in Faith?

And, God will give to those who Believed in Him, and did Righteous

good deeds, their reward for what they did in life,

and the attainment of Gardens of Paradise;

and no evil will touch them ever again; nor will they feel sorrow.

God is the creator of all things.

And, He is exalted over all things, and dispenses with all matters.

To Him belong the secrets of the Heavens and the earth.

And, those who DisBelieve in God’s verses, it is they who are Lost.

Say, O Muhammad, “Do you want me to worship something other than God,

O misled ones?

And, it was already Revealed to the people before you, and to you,

that if you call upon or associate any with God,

your good deeds in life will become worthless, and you will be among the Lost.”

Instead, worship God alone, and be among the thankful.

They have not attributed to God all glory due Him, while the earth

will be at His Mercy on the Day of Judgment,

and Judgment will be His.

Exalted High is Your Sovereign Lord God from what they associate with Him.

And, the Day the Horn will be blown, all will perish in the Heavens and the earth

except those He Wills otherwise.  And, the Horn will be blown again,

and all of a sudden the angels will be standing attentive, looking on.

And, the earth will glow with the Light of its Sovereign Lord God;

and the records of deeds will be placed before Him;

and the Messengers and the angels will be brought forward;

and the people will all be judged in Truth; and there will not be any mistakes.

And, every soul will be rewarded for what it used to do in life;

and, God is All Knowing of what they used to do.

And, the DisBelievers will be driven in herds to Hell, when they reach it,

its gates will open and its guardians will say, “Didn’t the Messengers of

God come before you, reciting to you the verses of Your Sovereign Lord God,

warning you of this approaching Hour?”

And, they will reply, “Yes, but the punishment decree

 has already come into being for the DisBelievers.”

And, to them it will be said, “Enter the gates of Hellfire to dwell therein eternally;

and horrible is the destination for the arrogant in Faith.”

But, those who Believed in their Sovereign Lord will be shown and gathered in

 Paradise, and they will reach the gates of Paradise and the guardian angels

will say, “Peace be upon you; you are pure of heart in Faith and Belief;

so welcome to Paradise to dwell therein eternally.”

And, the Believers will reply, “Praise to you, Most Sovereign Lord God,

who has fulfilled His Promise to us and made us to inherit the earth,

and has allowed us to live in Paradise wherever we desire.

And, how magnificent is His reward for His followers.”

And, you will see the heavenly angels surround the Supreme Throne of Authority,

exalting and giving praise to their Sovereign Lord God.

And, the people will be judged justly and in Truth, and it will be said,

“Praise be to you Lord God; Lord over all the worlds.”
