surah 33.the trenches

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

O Noble Prophet, fear God and do not be led astray

by the DisBelievers, and the people

 who say they are His followers, when in reality, they aren’t.

Without a doubt, God is the All Knowing, the Most Wise.

And, follow the Path that is Revealed to your from your Sovereign Lord.

And, unquestionably, Allah is ever Acquainted with that which you do.

And, rely upon God alone; for He is the Most Proficient over all

as a Disposer of Affairs.

God did not create mankind with two hearts inside him.

(And, He has commanded you not to commit incest.)

Mothers and blood related sons are forbidden to marry.

And He did not make those who you claim to be your son, to be your true son.

That is just a saying from your mouth, but God Reveals the Truth,

and He Guides whom He Wills to the Right Path.

Call the children under your care by their father’s names;

it is more just in God’s sight.

But, if you don’t know who the fathers are of the children in your care –

know they are still your brethren in Islam.

And, God forgives you if you make a mistake, its about what your heart intended.

And, Allah is Ever the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

The Messenger is more praiseworthy of the Believers, then they themselves are,

and his family is your family.

And, pursuant to God’s Decree, blood relatives are more entitled to

receive family inheritances, than brothers and sisters in Islam,

and people who are just passing through someone’s life.

However, you may make a small kind bequest to close friends.

That was in the written Book.

And, We took from all of God’s Messengers a Covenant:

from Muhammad, Noah, Abrahim, Moses, and Jesus, son of Mary.

And, He will question all of them about their Truth.

And, for those who don’t Believe, there will be a painful punishment.

All you who have Believed, remember God’s blessing upon you,

when armies came to destroy you, and We descended a great wind,

and an army of invisible angels.

And, God is always seeing of what you do in life.

When they came at you from above you, and below you,

and your eyes were listless and you could feel your heart in your throat,

and you took for granted about God certain assumptions.

And, there, the Believers were also tested,

and shaken with an earthquake.

And, remember when the people who said they followed God but didn’t,

and those whose hearts were evil and unkind, said,

“God did not promise anything except fantasy,”

and when one of them said, “O people of Medina, there is no

stability for you here, so return from where you came.”

And, a few of them asked of the Prophet, in agreement,

“Really, our homes are unprotected,” while they were not.

They did not intend anything, but to run away.

And, if they had been taken over from all its regions,

and forced to give up their religion,

they would do it without much hesitation.

And, they had already promised God before that they would

not turn their back on Him.

And, ever is one’s Faith questioned.

Say, “Never will running away benefit you.

If you should run away, and escape death, you would be given

more enjoyment of life but for a small time.”

Say, “Who can protect you from God if He intends for you harm,

or if He intends for you Mercy? 

And, there is no protector, nor helper besides Allah.

And, already God knows who holds you back from Faith,

and those who say to their brothers, “Come follow us,

and do not strive in God’s causes,”

except for a few who are faithful to you.

And, when fear overcomes them, you see them looking at you,

their eyes unmoving like one paralyzed by death.

But, when their fears are overcome, they lash out at you with harsh words,

not doing any real good.

Those who do not Believe, God will remove the reward of their good deeds,

and for Him that is effortless.

They believe the armies have not been withdrawn.

And, if the armies should come back, they will all wish they were with

the Arab desert dwellers, inquiring from far away about the news of the war.

And, if they should be among you, they would do much to ease your cause.

There has most assuredly been an excellent example of God’s Messenger

for anyone who trusts in God, and remembers Him often.

And, when the Believers saw the armies, they said,

“This is what God and His Messengers told us.

And, God and His Messenger spoke the truth.”

And, it increased their Belief and Faith.

And, among the righteous are people true to what they assured Allah.

Among them is he who fulfills his vows,

 and among them is he who looks forward to them.

And, they did not change by any means –

that God will reward those who are truthful for their sincerity,

and punish those who are fraudulent in Belief if He Wills to, or not.

And, without a doubt, Allah is always the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

And, God cast away those who DisBelieved in their anger,

not having accomplished any real good.

And, God protected the Believers in battle, and God is ever

the Most Powerful and Most Exalted in Strength.

And, He brought down the people who violated their treaties

from their fortresses, and struck terror into their hearts,

and some were caused to perish and others, held captive.

And, He caused you to become heir to their land,

and their houses and properties,

and land you have not travelled to before. 

And, God is ever over all things, the Most Competent.

O Prophet, say to the people, “If you should want only this earthly

life and its possessions, then proceed in your ways, and it will be given to you,

but then I will let you gladly let you depart.

But, if you desire God and His Messenger in your life,

and Paradise of the Hereafter  - then really, God has prepared

for those who Righteous good deeds a reward in the Hereafter.

O people of the Prophet, if you should commit a clear immorality,

after the Truth has reached you, then the punishment will be doubled,

and for God that is not difficult.

And, whoever of you devoutly follows God and His Messenger,

and does Righteous good deeds – We will double the reward;

and We have prepared a noble provision.

O people of the Prophet, you are not like any other people.

If you are conscious of God, then spread the good word proudly,

lest those who hearts are unkind will covet it, but speak otherwise righteously.

And, stand in your homes and do not flaunt yourselves,

as those in former times displayed themselves.

And, establish regular prayer, and give just due charity,

and obey God and His Messenger.

God only wants to remove the impurities of your sins from you,

O People of the Prophet,

and to cleanse you with Forgiveness.

And, remember what is cited in the Book of Allah,

and the Book of Wisdom.

Indeed, God is understated for One Acquainted with all things.

In reality, Muslim brothers and sisters, the Believing people:

the obedient, the Truthful, the patient, the humble, the charitable,

the ones who fast, the ones who watch over their private parts with modesty,

and the ones who remember God – for them God has bestowed

His Forgiveness, and a noble reward in Paradise.

If God and His Messenger have joined a couple,

then it is not for a Believing man or woman to question His Will,

nor will they have any choice thereafter.

And, whoever does not obey God and His Messenger, have

strayed and are clearly mistaken.

And, when you said to one whom God had bestowed His Blessing,

and you bestowed your blessing, “Keep your spouse and fear God,”

while you hid within yourself that which God would reveal.

And, you feared the people, while God had more authority that you fear Him.

So, when Zayd no longer wishes to remain married to his wife,

We married her to you so there wouldn’t be any worry from the Believers

concerning the spouses of their claimed sons when they no longer wished

to be married.  And, ever is God’s Will carried out.

There isn’t to be any burden on the Prophet over what God willed upon him.

That is the established way of God with the Prophets that went before you.

And, ever is God’s Will an ordained providence

for those who convey God’s Message.

And, fear Him, and do not fear anyone but God.

And, Allah is sufficient in taking account of all your deeds in life.

Muhammad is not the father of mankind, but

He is the Messenger of God and has the mark of the Prophets.

And, ever is God Knowing of all things.

All you who Believe, remember God with great commemoration,

and exalt and give praise to Him in the morning, and in the afternoon.

It is He who confers favor upon you, and His angels

may bring you of the Darkness into the Light.

And, ever is He to His Believers, the Most Merciful.

And, their greeting on the Day they meet Him will be, “Peace.”

And, He has prepared for them a gracious reward in Paradise.

O Prophet, We have made you a Witness, a bearer of glad tidings,

as well as a warner to mankind,

and one who invites to God, by His Leave,

 an illuminating Light.

And, give good news to the Believers that they will have from Him great Bounty.

And, do not follow the DisBelievers, or the Fraudulent ones,

and do not harm them, and rely upon God.

And, God is sufficient enough as a Resolver of all matters.

All you who Believe, if you marry a Believing spouse,

but wish to dissolve the marriage prior to consummation,

then there is no waiting period concerning them.

So, make a provision for them,

 and make a favorable release of the marriage contract.

O Prophet, We have made lawful to marry to you:

the one who you give a bridal gift; one who you care for

that God has ordained for you; daughter of paternal uncles or aunts;

daughter of maternal uncles or aunts;

a Believing woman if she gives herself to you.

And, this is only for you, not for the other Believers.

We surely know what We have made mandatory upon them

concerning their spouses, and those whom they care for,

and this is so that there is no burden upon you.

And, God is ever the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

You may put aside, and take whom you will of the lawful ones.

And, any that you have separated from, there is no blame

upon you, if you return them to their families.

That is more acceptable that they should be content, and not grieve,

and that they should be satisfied with what you have given to them –

all of them. 

And, God knows what is in your hearts.

And, He is always the Most Forbearing, and the All Knowing.

Not lawful to you, O Muhammad, are women in addition to this,

nor can you exchange them for other wives,

even if their beauty pleases you, except those whom you have cared for.

And, God is always over all things an Observer.

All you who Believe, do not enter the homes of the Prophet without permission,

However, when you are invited, then enter thereto;

and when you have finished eating then leave without remaining for conversation.

Really, that was troubling for the Prophet, and he is timid of you.

But, Allah is not timid of the Truth.

And, when you ask for something, ask from behind a partition.

That is better for your hearts and theirs.

And, it is not for you to harm the Messenger of God,

or to marry any of his wives after has divorced them, ever.

Indeed, in God’s sight this would be an atrocity.

Whether you hide something, or reveal it,

God is always knowing of all things.

And, there is no judging them concerning their fathers, or their sons,

or their brothers, or their brothers’ sons, or their sisters’ sons

or their women, or those they care for.

For, undoubtedly, God is over all things, the Witness and the Most Just.

And, really, God confers his favor on the Prophet, and His angels.

All you who Believe, ask for God’s blessing upon him,

and grant him peace.

In reality, those who insult God and His Messenger –

He has cursed them in this world, and the Hereafter,

and has prepared a painful punishment in the End.

And, those who harm the Believing people,

other than what they may have deserved,

have surely borne upon themselves a defamation and evident sin.

O Prophet, tell the Believing women to pull down over themselves

of their outer clothing. 

That is more acceptable that they be modest and not abused.

And, God is ever the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

If the ones who lie about God, and the ones with evil hearts,

and the ones who spread gossip in Medina, do not stop,

We will surely rouse you against them;

and they will not stay your neighbors for very long,

for they will be cursed wherever you find them,

and they will be seized and destroyed completely.

This is the established way of God with those who have perished

for DisBelief before you;

and you will not find any change in God’s way.

And, people may ask you about the Final Hour.

Say to them, “Knowledge of that rests with God alone.

And, what will make you understand that?

Perhaps, the time is approaching.”

Without a doubt, God has cursed the DisBelievers,

and prepared for them a Fiery Blaze.

And, they will abide therein forever,

finding neither protector nor helper.

On that Day, they will be looking at the Fire, saying,

“How we wished we had followed God and His Messenger.

Our Sovereign Lord, we followed our masters and rulers,

and they led us astray from the Right Path.

O Lord, give them double the punishment, and

send a great curse upon them.”

All you who Believe, do not be like those who mistreated Moses;

then God forgave them for what they did to him.

And, Moses in God’s sight, was one of the Righteous.

All you who Believe, fear God and speak words of justice.

He will amend your misdeeds and forgive you your sins.

And, whoever follows God and His Messenger has surely

attained the greatest achievement.

Indeed, We presented the Holy Trust to the Heavens and the earth

and the mountains, but they declined to bear it and were fearful;

so mankind was made to bear it.

Really, mankind was unjust and uninformed.

It was so that God could punish the hypocrites, and those

who worship others with Him,

and so He could acceptance repentance from the Believing people.

And, God is ever the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
