surah 30 roman empire

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

 

Alif, Lam, Meem.

The Roman Empire has been defeated

in the neighboring land.

 However, after their defeat, they will be overcome

in three to nine years. 

To God belongs the decree, both before and after.

And, on that Day, they will rejoice

in God’s victory.  He gives triumph to whom He Wills to,

and He is the Most Exalted in Might, the Most Merciful.

The promise of Allah; He never fails in His promises,

but many people do not know this.

They know what is obvious around them in the wordly life,

but they are UnKnowing about the Hereafter.

Do they not contemplate deeper than what is obvious?

And, God created the Heavens and the earth,

and everything in between them,

in Truth, and everything has a set defined term.

And, yet, some people are DisBelieving

 in the meeting with their Lord God.

Haven’t they travelled throughout the land, and seen

the end of those before them?  They were greater in number and power,

and they moved the earth, and built Mekkah up as none had done before,

and their Messengers came with Clear Proof.

And, God would not have wronged them, they wronged themselves.

And, the end of those who did evil was the worst

of consequences because they rejected God’s Signs, and ridiculed them.

God begins creation; and then He repeats it; and to Him you will return.

And, on the Day of the Final Hour,

those who have done wrong will despair.

And, there will not be among their idols any intercession for them,

and they will then no longer believe in the idols they worshipped.

And, on the Day the Final Hour appears,

they will be separated from one another.

As for those who Believed in God, and did Righteous good deeds,

they will be content in the Gardens of Paradise.

But, those who DisBelieved and rejected Our Verses,

and the encounter in the Hereafter,

they will be drawn into the punishment eternally.

So, exalt God and give praise to Him in the morning and evening.

And, all praise and glory is due to Him

throughout the Heavens and the earth.

And, exalt and give praise to him at noon and at night, as well.

He gives life from the dead, and gives death out of the living,

and He gives life to the barren land after its lifelessness.

And, thus you will be brought out on the Day of Resurrection.

And, the fact he created you from dust is a Sign from Him;

and, then, he scattered mankind throughout the earth.

And, another of His Signs is that he created a counterpart for you

that you might find happiness; and He set between you love and mercy.

And, without a doubt, in that are Signs for those who contemplate.

And, in the creation of the Heavens and the earth,

with all the diversity of your languages and colors,

are more of His Signs.

And, of His Signs is your slumber at night,

and your seeking of His Bounty during the day.

Without a doubt,

there are Signs in that for those who listen to His Word.

And, of His Signs is the lightning He shows you,

causing fear and remembrance,

and He descends down rain from the sky through which He

brings life to the barren earth after its lifelessness.

And, undoubtedly, in that are Signs for people who think.

And, of His Signs is that the sky and the earth stand by His command.

Then, when He calls you with a single call,

you all will be returned to Him.

And, to God belongs all that is in the Heavens and the earth.

All are to Him devoutly faithful and obedient.

And, it is He who begins life; then, He repeats it,

and that is easy for Him to do.

To Him belongs the highest attributes in the Heavens and the earth.

And, He is the Most Exalted in Might, the Most Wise.

He presents to you an example from your own people.

And, do you have from among those He has provided to you

any that you feel equal to, and would fear them as you would others?

Thus, do We explain in detail the verses for a people who reason.

But, those who do wrong follow their own pleasures without thinking.

Then, who can Guide a man whom God has sent astray?

And, for the DisBelievers there is no one to help them.

So direct yourself to Faith, inclining toward the Truth.

And, stay with the Faith that He has given all people.

No change should there be in the Faith He gave to them.

That is the Right religion, but many people do not know this.

Turn in repentance to Him, and fear Him,

and establish regular prayer,

and do not be with those who associate others with God,

or those who divided the Faith,

and became sects, each rejoicing in itself.

And, when adversity overcomes people,

 they call upon their Sovereign Lord God,

turning in repentance towards Him.

Then, when He lets them taste of His Mercy,

some associate that Mercy with other deities than their Lord God,

and they will deny what was bestowed upon them in Faith.

Then, go ahead and enjoy yourselves, for in the End you are going

Know the Truth.

Or, have We descended down to them some authority that

gives credence to what they are associating with Him?

And, when We let them taste of Our Mercy, they rejoice in it.

 But, when evil touches them for what they have done in life,

they lose hope.

Don’t they understand that God provides sustenance to whom He Wills,

and relinquishes it.

And, indeed, in that are Signs for those who Believe.

So, give charity to those in need in your family,

the needy, and the wayfarer.

That is best if they wish for the blessing of Allah,

and it is they who are the triumphant ones in the end.

But, whatever you give in usurious

interest to increase the wealth of people,

it is of not benefit with Allah.

But, those who give in due charity to the needy –

desiring the blessing of Allah –

they will receive multiple blessings.

God is the one who gave life to you, provided for you,

then will cause you to perish, and then He will resurrect you.

Are there any deities other than God who can do that?

Exalted is God, far above what they may associate with Him.

Corruption has spread throughout the land and oceans

by what the deeds of what people have earned,

so He may let them taste part of the consequences

 of what they have done,

so that perhaps they will return to righteousness.

Say, “Travel throughout the land,

and look at the end of those before you.

Most of them were idolators who worshipped other than Allah.

So, direct your heart to the Right Faith before the Day comes

from God, from which there is no avoidance.

And, on that Day they will be divided into those who

are destined for Paradise, and those driven to Hellfire.

Whoever DisBelieves –

then upon him is the consequences of his own UnBelief.

And, whoever does Righteous good deeds –

they are preparing for Gardens of Paradise,

so that He may reward those who have Believed in Him,

and performed Righteous good deeds with His Blessing.

Without a doubt, the DisBelievers he is not pleased with.

And, of His Signs are the winds He sends as bearers of good tidings

and to let you taste of His Divine Mercy through rain,

and so the ships may sail through the oceans at His behest,

and so that you seek of His Infinite Bounty,

and perhaps you will be thankful to Him.

And, We previously sent Messengers to the civilizations before you,

and there came to them Clear Proof; then We took

compensation from those who committed crimes,

and now upon Us was bestowal of victory to the Believing people.

It is God who compels the winds, stirring the clouds,

and dispersing them throughout the skies however He wishes to,

and He makes them break so that you can see the rain come from them.

And, when He causes it to descend upon He Wills of His followers;

they immediately rejoice.

Before it was descended upon them, they were in despair.

So, see the effects of God’s Infinite Mercy –

how He gives life to the barren earth after its lifelessness.

And, without a doubt, that will give life to the lifeless,

and He is over all matters the Most Competent.

But, if We should descend a harsh wind,

and they saw their crops turn withered,

they would surely be DisBelievers thereafter.

So, really you will not make the UnHearing to the Truth to Hear;

nor will you make the UnHearing Hear the Call to Faith,

when they have turned away from Him, retreating.

And, you cannot Guide the Unseeing to the Light.

Only those who Believe will Hear Our Verses,

and submit to the Will of Allah.

Allah is the one who created you from frailty as a child,

then made that frailty strong as an adult,

then again returned you to frailty with white hair.

He creates what He Wills to,

and He is the All Knowing, the Most Competent.

And, on the Day when the Final Hour appears

the wrongdoers will swear they had but stayed an hour.

Thus, they were led astray.

But, those who were given intellect and Faith will say,

“You stayed for the duration of God’s Decree, until the Day,

and this is the Day of Judgment,

but you did not acknowledge the Truth.”

So, on that Day, their excuses will not benefit

 those who have done wrong,

nor will they be asked to repent.

And, We most assuredly presented to mankind in this Qur’an

every kind of example.  But, if you should show them a Sign,

the DisBelievers will certainly say, “You Believers are but liars.”

Thus, does God seal over the hearts of those who don’t

Know the Truth, and turn away from Faith.

So, be enduring and strong.

Without a doubt, the covenant of Allah is the Truth.

And, don’t let those who are unsure of their Faith cause you anxiety.
