Surah 4 People

Surah 4 An Nisa

O Mankind! Revere your Guardian Lord God, who created you from one soul, created from its mate and dispersed from both of them, countless people.
And, fear God, and heed God's Word with regards to relationship matters.
For, Allah is ever over you, watching over you.

To orphans, give their property to them when they reach their age of majority, and do not substitute your worthless things for their good ones; and do not consume their properties by mixing it up with your own. For this, indeed, is a great sin.

And, if you feel you cannot act justly, with an orphan, then do not marry one.  If you feel you will not be kind to any person, then do not marry at all.  This is more suitable, than to cause harm to anyone out of injustice.

And, give a woman upon marriage her bridal gifts.  But, if she, of her own accord, sends any part of it to you, take it and enjoy it with thankfulness.

To those weak of Understanding, do not give them your property, which Allah has made a means of support for you, but provide for them therewith,
and speak to them with words of kindness and justice.

And, test the orphans in their abilities until they reach marriage age.  If then you find sound judgment in them, release their property to them.  But do not consume their property wastefully, anticipating their growing up. If the guardian is well-off, let him claim no remuneration.  But, if he is poor, let him have for himself what is just and reasonable. When you release their property to them, take witnesses in their presence.
But, God is all sufficient in taking account.

For children is a share of what is left by parents and those nearly related, whether the property be small or large, a determined share.

But, if at the time of division, other relatives, or orphans or poor, are present, feed them out of the property, and speak to them words of kindness and justice.

Let those disposing of an estate have the same fear in their minds as they would have for their own if they had left a helpless family behind.

Let them fear God, and speak words of comfort. Those who unjustly eat up the property of orphans, eat up a Fire into their own bodies.

They will soon be enduring a Blazing Fire!

Allah directs you with regards to your children's inheritance is to share between them equitably, because Allah is The Most Just.  Allah is ever Knowing, The Most Wise.

The distribution in all cases is after the payment of the decedent’s legacies and debts.
These are settled portions ordained by Allah.
And, God is the All Knowing, The Forbearing.

Thus, is it ordained by Allah, and whoever obeys Allah, and His Messenger,

will be admitted to Gardens of Paradise, under which rivers flow,

 to abide therein forever,
and that will be the Supreme Attainment.

But, those who disobey God and His Messenger, and transgress His limits, will be admitted to a Fire, to abide therein.  And, they shall have a humiliating punishment.

If any person is guilty of lewdness, take the evidence of four reliable witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify and are found guilty, confine them to their homes and take care of them, or until God ordains for them in some other way.

For Allah is the Most Returning, Most Merciful.  Allah accepts the repentance of those who do evil in ignorance and repent soon after;
to them will Allah turn in Mercy,
for Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom.

Of no effect is the repentance of those who continue to do evil, until death faces one of those people, and he says, "Indeed, now have I repented."   For those who die rejecting Faith, for them is prepared a most grievous punishment.

O You who Believe!  You are forbidden to take a woman against her will. Nor should you treat anyone with harshness.  Nor should you take away part of the bridal gifts you have given her.  On the contrary, live with your spouse on a footing of kindness and equity.  And, God blesses therein those who practice Righteousness in their relationships with others.

But, if you decide to divorce one for another, even if you had given the latter a whole treasure of bridal gifts, take not the least bit of it back.
Would you take it by injustice and manifest sin?

And, how could you take it when you have come together,
and they have taken from you a solemn covenant?

And, do not marry a woman whom your father married.
It is immorality and hateful, an abominable custom indeed.

Prohibited to you in marriage are those too close in blood.
For, Allah is The Most-Forgiving, the Most Merciful One.

Also prohibited, is a woman who is already married.  Thus, has God ordained prohibitions for you. Except for these, all other Believing woman are lawful, provided you seek the woman in marriage with gifts from your property, desiring chastity, not lust, seeing that you derive benefit from her, give her the bridal gifts as prescribed. But if, after a dowery is agreed to, and the parties agree mutually to change it, there is no blame upon you, and Allah is the All-Knowing, the Most Wise.

If any of you do not have the means to wed a Believing woman,
then do not marry until you can provide for her.
And, Allah has full knowledge about your Faith. You are one from another.

Wed from the Believing women, and give them their bridal gifts, according to what is reasonable. They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking secret lovers.
This permission is for those among you who fear sin;
but it is better for you that you practice self-restraint.
And, God is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

Allah wishes to make clear to you and to show you the ordinances of those before you; and He wishes to turn to you in Mercy.

And, Allah is the All Knowing, the Most Wise.

Allah does wish to turn to you in Mercy, but the wish of those who follow their lusts is that you have turned away from Him, far, far away.

God does wish to lighten your burdens, for mankind was created weak.

O you who Believe! Do not eat up all your property among yourselves in vanities.  But, let there be among you business and trade by mutual goodwill.  Nor kill or destroy yourselves.  For, without a doubt, Allah has been the Most Merciful to you!

For whoever does commit aggression and injustice, God shall cast them into the Fire.
And, it is easy for Allah.

If you avoid the major sins that are forbidden to you, God shall expel out of you all the evil inside, and admit you to a Gate of Great Honor.

And, do not covet those things that Allah has bestowed on others more freely than on you. To men is allotted what they earn, and to women what they earn.
And, ask Allah of His Bounty. For Allah is over all things a Witness.

To benefit everyone, God has appointed shares and heirs to property left by parents and relatives.

To those, also, to whom your right hand is pledged, give them their due portion.
For truly Allah is Witness to all things.

Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more strength than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore, the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in their husbands' absence what Allah would have them guard.

If you fear disloyalty or bad conduct, talk to each other,

and seek negotiation to resolve your discord, not violence.

But, if both parties return once more to a good relationship, do not seek a divorce.
For Allah is ever The Most Exalted, the Most Great.

If you fear an argument between two people, appoint two arbitrators, one from his family, and the other from hers.

If they wish for peace, Allah will cause their reconciliation.
For Allah has full Knowledge, and is acquainted with all things.

Worship God alone, and associate nothing with Him.  And, do good to your spouse, your parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need, neighbors who are near, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the traveler,
and those whom you care and provide for.

For, Allah does not love self-deluding and boastful people;

Nor those who are stingy or encourage others to be stingy, or hide the Bounties which God has bestowed on them.  For God has prepared, for those who resist Faith, a punishment that steeps them in contempt;

Nor those who spend of their substance to be seen by other people, but have no Faith in Allah and the Last Day:  He is to Satan a companion, and evil is he as a friend!

And, would it be a burden upon them if they had Faith in God and in the Final Day, and they spend out of what Allah has given them for sustenance?
For Allah has full Knowledge of them.

Allah is never unjust in the slightest degree.  If there is any good done, He doubles it, and gives from His own presence a great reward.

How then if God brought from each people a witness, and God also brought you a witness against these people!

On that day those who reject Faith and disobey the apostle will wish that the earth were made one with them.  But, never will they hide a single fact from Allah.

O you who Believe! Do not approach prayers with a foggy mind, until you can understand all that you say, nor in a state of impurity, except when traveling on the road, until after washing your whole body. If you are ill, or on a journey, or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself, or you have been in contact with a woman, and you find no water, then take for yourselves clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces and hands. For, Allah blots out sins and forgives again and again.

Have you not turned your vision to those who were given a portion of the Scripture? They are in error, and wish that you should lose the Right Path.
But, Allah has full knowledge of your enemies.
Allah is enough for a Protector, and Allah is enough for a Helper.

Of the Hebrews, there are those who distort words from their rightful places, and say, "We hear and we disobey, and "hear what is not heard," and "consider us," all with a twist of their tongues, and with slander to the Faith.

If only they had said, "We hear and we obey" and "We do hear the Word," it would have been better for them, and more proper.  But, Allah has cursed them for their Disbelief in Him; and but few of them will Believe.

O People of the Scripture! Believe in what God has now Revealed, confirming what was already with you, before We change the face and fame of some of you beyond all recognition, and turn them backwards, or curse them as We cursed those who broke the Sabbath, for the decision of God must be carried out.

God does not forgive those who set partners with Him;
but He forgives anything else, to whom He pleases to.

For to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin most heinous indeed.

Have you not turned your vision to those who claim sanctity for themselves?
No, but Allah does sanctify whom He pleases.
But, never will they fail to receive justice in the least little thing.

Behold! How they invent a lie against God, but that by itself is a manifest sin!

Have you not turned your vision to those who were given a portion of the Scripture? They believe in sorcery and evil, and say to the disbelievers that they are better guided in the Right Way than the Believers! They are those whom Allah has cursed.
And those whom Allah has cursed, they will find have no one to help them.

Or, have they a share in dominion or power? They would not give their fellow man not even so much as a speck on a date seed.

Or, do they envy mankind for what Allah has given them of His bounty?  But, We had already given the people of Abraham the Scripture and Wisdom,
and given them a great kingdom.

Some of them Believed, and some of them turned their faces away from God.
And, enough is Hell for a Burning Fire.

Those who reject God's Signs, the angel shall cast them into the Fire.  Their skins will burn through, and God will exchange them for fresh skins, so that they may taste the penalty for DisBelief.  For, Allah is the Most Exalted in Power, the Most Wise.

But, those who Believe, and do righteous deeds, We shall soon admit to Gardens of Paradise, with rivers that flow beneath, their Eternal Refuge. Therein, shall they have companions pure and holy.  We shall admit them to cool and deep shade.

Allah does command you to give your pledges to those to whom they are due.  And, when you judge between people, that you judge with justice.  Indeed, how excellent is the teaching which He gives you! For, Allah is He Who Hears and Sees all things.

O you Believers! Obey God, and obey the Messenger, and those charged with authority among you. If you differ in matters among yourselves, refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you do believe in Allah and the Last Day.
That is best, and most suitable for final determination.

Have you not turned your vision to those who say that they believe in the Revelations that have come to you and those before you? Their real desire is to submit together for judgment their disputes to the Evil One, though they were ordered to reject him.

But, Satan's wish is to lead them astray far away from the Right Path.

When it is said to them, "Come to what God has Revealed, and to the Messenger," You see the hypocrites turn their faces away from You in doubt. " How then, when they are seized by misfortune, because of the deeds which their hands have done, they will come to you, swearing by Allah,"We meant no more than goodwill and reconciliation!"

Allah knows of these people, and He Knows what is in their hearts.
So keep clear of them, and speak to them a word to reach their very souls.

We sent a Messenger to be obeyed, in accordance with the Will of Allah. If they had only, when they were unjust to themselves, come to God and asked for His Forgiveness.  And, the Messenger had tried to ask forgiveness for them.  Indeed, they would have found Allah to be the Most Accepting, Most Merciful.

But no, by the Lord God, they have no true Faith, until they make You Judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against Your decisions, but accept them with the fullest conviction.

If God had ordered them to sacrifice their lives or to leave their homes, very few of them would have done it.  But, if they had done what they had actually been told, it would have been best for them, and would have gone farthest to solidify their Faith.

And, God should then have given great recompense.
And, God would have shown them the Straight Path.

All who obey God, they are in the company of those whom Allah graces - of the prophets who teach, and the sincere followers of the Truth,  the witnesses who testify to the Truth, and the Righteous who do good deeds. Oh! What a beautiful fellowship!

Such is the Bounty from Allah.  And, it suffices that Allah Knows all.

O you who Believe! Take precautions, and either go forth in parties or go forth together.

There are certainly among you men who would fall behind. If a misfortune befalls you, they say, "Allah did favor us by not being present among them."

But, if good fortune comes to you from Allah, they would be sure to say as if there had never been ties of affection between you and them.

"Oh! I wish I had been with them; a fine thing I should have made of it!"

Those who spend their lives in God's causes helping others and doing good deeds, We shall soon give them a reward of great value.

And, why shouldn't you spend time in the cause of Allah, and for those who, being weak, are ill-treated or oppressed?  Men, women, and children, whose cry is, "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from You one who will protect us; and raise for us from You one who will help us!"

Those who Believe spend their lives in the cause of Allah, and those who reject Faith fight in the cause of Evil. So, reject the friends of Satan.  Weak indeed is Satan's cunning.

Have you not turned your vision to those who were told to hold back their hands from fighting and, instead, establish regular prayers and spend regularly in charity? When at length the order for spending time in God's cause was issued to them, behold! A portion of them feared men, but they should have feared Allah.
They said, "Our Lord! Why have You ordered us to fight?
Would You not Grant us respite from our natural term, soon near?"

Say: "Short is the enjoyment of this world.  The Hereafter is the best for those who do Right. In the very least, you will never be dealt with unjustly!

"Wherever you are, death will find you, even if you are in strong, built up high towers!" If some good befalls them, they say, "This is from Allah."  But if evil befalls them, they say, "This is from you."

O Prophet, Say: "All things are from Allah." But what is wrong with these people, that they fail to understand a single fact?

O mankind, whatever good happens to you, it is from Allah.  But, whatever evil happens to you, it is from your own soul.  And, We have sent you a Messenger to guide mankind. And, God is enough for a Witness.

He who obeys the Messenger, obeys God. But if any of the people turn away, We have not sent you to watch over their evil doings.

They have "obedience" on their lips; but when they leave you, a few of them think all night on things very different from what you told them. But Allah records their bad plots, so keep clear of them, and put your trust in Allah.
And, God is enough as a Disposer of Affairs.

Do they not consider the Qur'an carefully? Had it been from other than Allah, they would surely have found therein many discrepancies.

When there comes to them some matter touching public fear, they divulge it. If they had only referred it to the Messenger, or to those charged with authority over them, the proper investigators would have tested it from them directly. Were it not for the Grace and Mercy of Allah for you, all but a few of you would have fallen into the clutches of Satan.

Then spend time in God's causes - you are held responsible only for yourself - and wake up the Believers. It may be that Allah will restrain the fury of the Disbelievers.
For, God is the strongest in Might and in Punishment.

Whoever recommends and helps a good cause becomes a partner therein.  And, whoever recommends and helps an evil cause, shares in its punishment.
And, Allah has power over all things.

When a kindly greeting is offered you, meet it with a greeting still even more courteous, or at least of equal courtesy. Allah takes careful account of all things.

Allah. There is no God but He.  Certainly He will gather you together against the Day of Judgment, about which there is no doubt.
And whose word can be Truer than God's Word?

Why should you be divided into two groups about the Hypocrites? Allah has accounted them for their evil deeds.

Would you guide those whom Allah has already thrown out of the Way?
For those whom Allah has thrown out of the Way, never shall he find the Way again.

They wish that you will reject your Faith, as they do, and thus, be on the same footing as them.

But, do not take friends from the DisBelievers until they follow the ways of God, from that which is forbidden.  And, take no friends or helpers from them; except those who join a group between whom you have a treaty of peace, or those who approach you with their hearts keeping them from fighting you, as well as from fighting their own people. If Allah pleased to, He could have given them power over you, and they would have fought you.

Therefore, if they withdraw from you and do not fight you, and instead send you guarantees of peace, then Allah has opened no way for you to war against them. Others, you will find that they wish to gain your confidence as well as that of their people.  Every time they are sent back to temptation, they fall thereto.  If they do not withdraw from you, nor give you warranties of peace, besides restraining their hands, defend yourselves until you overtake them.

In their case, We have provided you with a clear argument against them. Never should a Believer kill another Believer.  But, if it happens by mistake, compensation is due to the family.  If someone kills a Believer, it is ordained that he pay compensation to the decedent's family, unless they remit it freely.  If he belonged to a people with whom you have treaty of mutual alliance, compensation should be paid to his family. For those who find this beyond their means is prescribed a fast for two months as repentance to Allah.
For Allah has all Knowledge and all Wisdom.

If a person kills a Believer intentionally, his or her recompense is Hell, to abide therein forever.  And, the wrath and the curse of Allah are upon them,
and a dreadful punishment is prepared in this life and the Hereafter.

O you who Believe! When you go abroad in the cause of Allah, investigate carefully, and do not say to anyone who offers you a salutation, "You are not a Believer, coveting the perishable goods of this life."  With Allah are profits and spoils abundant. Even thus, you were yourselves before, until Allah conferred upon you His favors. Therefore carefully investigate. For Allah is well aware of all that you do.

The Believers who sit at home and receive no harm, and those who strive and spend their time in the cause of Allah with their goods and their personhood, are not the same. Allah has granted a higher grade to those who strive in God's cause, striving with their goods and personhood, than to those who sit at home. Unto all who have Faith, Allah has promised good. And, those who strive in His causes, He has distinguished them above those who sit at home by a special reward, a rank especially bestowed by Him, and Forgiveness and Mercy. For God is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls
they say, "In what plight were you?" They reply, "We were weak and oppressed on the earth." They say, "Was not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away from evil?" Such people will find their abode in Hell, what an evil refuge!

Except those who are truly weak and oppressed - men, women, and children - they have no means in their power, nor a guidepost marking their way. For these, there is hope that Allah will forgive them. For Allah does blot out sins and forgive again and again.

He who forsakes his home in the cause of Allah, finds on the earth many a refuge, wide and spacious.  Should one die as a refugee from home for Allah and His Messenger, his reward becomes due and is sure with Allah.
And, God is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

When you travel on the earth, there is no blame if you shorten your prayers for a time, for fear the Disbelievers may attack you.
For the Disbelievers are not your friends and they mean you harm.

When you, O Messenger, are with them, and stand to lead them in prayer, let one party of them stand up in prayer with you, taking their arms with them.  When they finish their prostration, let them take their position in the rear. And let the other party come up who has not yet prayed - and let them pray with you, taking all precautions, and bearing arms.  The Disbelievers wish, if you were negligent with your arms and your baggage, to assault you in a solitary rush. But, there is no blame on you if you put away your arms because of the inconvenience of weather, or because you are ill; but take every precaution for yourselves. For the Unbelievers, Allah has prepared a humiliating punishment.

When you pass prayers, celebrate Allah's praises, standing, sitting down, or lying down on your sides.  But, when you are free from danger, set up regular prayer again, for such prayers are enjoined on Believers at stated times.

And, do not slacken in following up behind the enemy. If you are suffering hardships, they are suffering similar hardships; but if you have Hope from Allah, they the while have none.  And, God is full of Knowledge and Wisdom.

We have sent down to you the Scripture in Truth, that you might judge between people, as guided by Allah. So, do not be used as an advocate by those who betray trust. But, seek the forgiveness of Allah. For Allah is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Do not contend on behalf of those who betray their own soul.
For Allah does not Love anyone given to foul play and crime.

They may hide their crimes from people, but they cannot hide them from Allah, seeing that He is in their midst when they plot by night, in words that He does not approve.
And, Allah does encompass all that they do.

Ah! These are the kind of people on whose behalf you may contend in this world.  But, who will contend with Allah on their behalf on the Day of Judgment, or who will carry on their affairs?

If anyone does evil or wrongs his own soul, but afterwords seeks Allah's forgiveness, he will find Allah to be The Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

And if anyone commits a sin, he earns it against his soul.
For, Allah is full of Knowledge and Wisdom.

But, if any one earns a fault or a sin and throws it onto another who is innocent, he carries himself both a falsehood and a flagrant sin.

But for the Grace of God to you and His Mercy, some of them would certainly have plotted to lead you astray. But, in fact, they will only lead their own souls astray, and to you they can do no harm in the least. For Allah has sent down to you the Scripture and wisdom and taught you what you knew not before.
And, great is the Grace of Allah upon you!

In most of their secret talks, there is no good. But, if one exhorts to a deed of charity or justice or reconciliation between men, secrecy is allowed. To him who does this, seeking the good pleasure of Allah, We shall soon give a reward of the highest measure.

If anyone contends with the Messenger, even after Guidance has been plainly conveyed to him, and follows a Path other than those people of Faith, We shall leave him in the path he has chosen, and land him in Hell, what an evil refuge!

Allah does not forgive the sin of joining other gods with Him.  But, He forgives those whom He pleases for other sins than this.  One who joins other gods with Allah, has strayed far, far away from the Right Path.

The pagans depart from Him, calling upon female deities.  They call upon Satan, the persistent rebel!  God did curse him.  But he said, "I will take from your servants a marked portion."

"I will mislead them, and I will create false desires in them; I will order
them to slit the ears of cattle, and to deface nature created by Allah." Whoever, forsaking God, and takes Satan for a companion, has surely suffered a Manifest Lost.

Satan makes them promises, and creates their false desires.
But, Satan's promises are nothing but pure deception.

They, his fools, will have their dwelling in Hell, and from it they will find no way of escaping it.

But, those who Believe and do righteous deeds - we shall soon admit them to Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath, to dwell therein forever. Allah's promise is the Truth, and whose Word can be truer than God's?

Neither your desires, nor people who reject Faith, will prevail in this Life or the Hereafter.  Whoever embraces evil, will be punished accordingly.
The Disbelievers will not find any protector or helper besides God.

If you do any Righteous deeds, whether you are male or female - and you maintain Faith, you will enter Heaven, and not the least injustice will be done to you.

Who can be better in religion than one who submits his whole self to Allah, does good deeds, and follows the way of Abraham and are true in Faith?
 For, Allah did enjoin Abraham.

But, to God belong all things in the Heavens and on Earth.
And, He encompasses all things.

They ask your instructions concerning woman.  Say: Allah does instruct you about womankind. And, remember what has been dictated to you in the Scripture, she whom you desire to marry, as also concerning the children who are weak and oppressed:
that you stand firm for justice to them and to orphans.
There is not a good deed that you do, but that Allah is well-acquainted therewith.

If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband's part, there is no blame on them if they arrange an amicable settlement between themselves; and settlement is best; even though peoples' souls are swayed by greed. But, if you do good and practice self-restraint, Allah is well-acquainted with all that you do.

Some are never able to be fair and just to a woman, even if it is your ardent desire. But, do not turn not away from a woman altogether, so as to leave her hanging in the air. If you come to a friendly understanding, and practice self-restraint,
Allah is The Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

But, if they disagree and must part ways, Allah will provide abundance for all from His All-Encompassing Bounty.  For, Allah is He that cares for all things and is The Most Wise.

To God, belong all things in the Heavens and on Earth.  Indeed, we have directed the People of the Scripture before you, and you, O muslims, fear Allah. But, if you deny Him, lo! Unto Allah belongs all things in the Heavens and on Earth,
and Allah is free of all wants, and He is Worthy of All Praise.

Unto God belong all things in the Heavens and on Earth,
and He is enough to carry through all matters.

If it were His Will, He could destroy you, O mankind, and create another creation;
 for He has this Power.

If anyone desires a reward in this life, Allah's gift is the reward both in this life and the Hereafter.  For, God Hears and Sees all things.

O you Believers! Stand firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it is against the rich or poor.  For Allah can protect both best.  Do not follow the lusts of your hearts, lest you swerve from the Right Path, and if you distort justice or decline to do justice,
verily, Allah is well- acquainted with all that you do.

O you who Believe! Believe in God, and His Messenger, and the Scripture which He has sent to His Messenger, and the Scripture which He sent to those before him. Any who denies God, His angels, His Scriptures, His Messenger, and the Day of Judgment, have gone far, far astray.

Those who Believe, then reject Faith, then believe again and reject faith again, and go on increasing in Disbelief, Allah will not forgive them, nor guide them on the Right Path.

To the Hypocrites give them their due, but for them is a grievous penalty.

To those who take for friends the Disbelievers rather than Believers: is it honor that they seek among them? No, all honor rests with Allah.

He has already sent you Word in the Scripture, that when you hear the signs of Allah held in defiance and ridicule, you are not to sit with them, unless they turn to a different Way.  If you did, you would be like them. For Allah will collect the hypocrites and those who defy Faith all in Hellfire. These are the ones who wait and watch about you.  If you do gain a victory from Allah, they say: "Were we not with you?" But, if the DisBelievers gain a success, they say to them: "Did we not gain an advantage over you, and did we not guard you from the Believers?" But, Allah will judge between you on the Day of Judgment. And, never will God grant to the DisBelievers a way to triumph over the Believers.

The Hypocrites, they think they are over-reaching Allah, but He will over reach them.  When they stand up for prayer, they stand without earnestness, to be seen by others, but little do they remember God.

They are distracted in their minds even in the midst of it, being for neither one group, nor for the other, whom Allah leaves astray, never will you find for them The Way.

O you who Believe! Do not take for friends the DisBelievers over the Believers.
Do you wish to offer Allah as proof against your own self?

The Hypocrites will be in the deepest depths of the Fire.
You cannot find for them a helper.

Except for those who repent, mend their lives, and hold fast to Allah, and purify their religion as in Allah's sight, they will be counted with the Believers. And soon, Allah will grant to the Believers a reward of immense value.

What can Allah gain by your punishment, if you are grateful and you Believe in Him?
No, it is Allah that recognizes all good that you do, and He Knows all things.

Allah does not like the mention of evil in public, less it be by the one who has been wronged; for Allah is He who hears and Knows all things.

Whether you publish a good deed or conceal it, or cover evil with pardon, indeed, Allah does blot out sins and has power over the judgment of values.

Those who deny God and His apostles, and those who wish to separate God from His apostles, saying: "We believe in some, but reject others."  And those who wish to take a middle course, they are truly UnBelievers.
And, We have prepared for UnBelievers a humiliating punishment.

To those who Believe in God and His apostles and make no distinction between any of the apostles, we will give their due rewards.
For Allah is the Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

The people of the Scripture ask you to cause a Scripture to descend to them from heaven. Indeed, they asked Moses for an even greater miracle, for they said, "Show us Allah outright," and they were struck by thunder and lightning for their wrongdoings.  They worshiped the calf even after Clear Signs had come to them.  Even so, We forgave them, and gave Moses manifest proofs of authority.

And for their covenant, we raised over them the towering height of Mount Sinai.  And, on another occasion, We said: "Enter the gate with humility." And, We commanded them again, "Transgress not in the matter of the Sabbath."
And from them,We took a solemn covenant.

They have incurred divine upset in that they broke their Solemn Covenant; becaused they rejected The Signs of God.  They killed the prophets in defiance of what is Right.  They said, "Our hearts are the wrappings which preserve Allah's Word; We need no more." No, Allah has set the seal on their hearts for their blasphemy, and little do they Believe.

They rejected Faith; they uttered against Mary a grave false accusation.

They said boastfully, "We killed Jesus, the son of Mary, the Messenger of Allah." But, they did not kill him, nor crucified him, but so it was made to look as though he had, and those who differ therein are full of doubts, with no certain knowledge, but only conjecture will follow.  For surely, they did not kill him.

No, Allah raised him up unto Himself.  And, God is Exalted in Power, Wise.

And, there is none of the people of the Scripture but who must Believe in Him before his death.  And, on the Day of Judgment He will be a witness against them.

For the iniquity of the Hebrews, We made unlawful for them certain foods good and wholesome which had been lawful for them, in that they hindered many from God's Path.  They committed usury, though they were forbidden to; and they devoured other people's property wrongfully.

We have prepared for those among them who reject Faith a grievous punishment.

But, those among them who are well-grounded in Knowledge, and the Believers, Believe in what has been Revealed to you, and what was Revealed before you. And, especially those who establish regular prayers and practice regular charity, and Believe in God and in the Last Day, to them, We soon shall give them a great reward.

We have sent you inspiration, as We sent it to Noah and the Messengers after him.  We sent inspiration to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, to Jesus, Job, Jonah, Aaron, and Solomon, and to David, We gave the Psalms.

Of some Messengers, We have already told you the story.  Of others, We have not; and to Moses, Allah spoke directly.

The Messenger, who gave good news, as well as warnings, that mankind after the coming of the Messengers, should have no plea against Allah. For Allah is Exalted in Power, Wise.

But, Allah bears witness that what He has sent to you He has sent from His own Knowledge, and the angels bear witness. But, Allah is enough a Witness.

Those who reject Faith, and keep people from the ways of God, have verily strayed far, far away from the Right Path.

Those who reject Faith and do wrong, Allah will not forgive them, nor guide them to any way, except the way of Hell, to dwell therein forever.
And to God, this is easy.

O Mankind! The Messenger has come to you in Truth from Allah.   Believe in Him.  It is best for you. But, if you reject Faith, to Allah belong all things in the Heavens and on Earth.  And, Allah is All-Knowing, All-Wise.

O people of the Scripture! Commit no excesses in your religion, nor say anything of God but the Truth. Jesus, the son of Mary, was a Messenger of God, which God bestowed on Mary, with a spirit proceeding from Him.   So, Believe in Allah and His Messengers. Do not say, "Trinity."  Stop, it will be better for you.  For, Allah is one God. Glory be to Him!  Far Exalted is He above having a son.

To Him belong all things in the Heavens and on Earth.
And, God is enough as a Disposer of Affairs.

Never would the Messiah disdain to be the servant of God, nor would the angels nearest to Allah.  Those who disdain His worship and are arrogant, He will gather them all together unto Himself to answer for it.

But, to those who Believe and do Righteous deeds, He will give their due rewards, and more out of His bounty.  But, those who are disdainful and arrogant,
He will punish with a grievous punishment.
Nor will they find, besides God,
any to protect or to help them other than God.

O Mankind! Verily, there has come to you convincing proof from your Lord, for We have sent unto you The Manifest Light.

Then, those who Believe in Allah, and hold fast to Him, soon He will admit them to Mercy and Grace from Himself, and Guide them to Himself on the Straight Path.

They ask you for a legal decision.
Say: Allah does make clear to you His law, less you go astray from the Right Path.
And, God is Knowing of all things, The Most Just.

Amen
