Surah ar-Ra'd

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful).
Alif, Lam, Meem, Ra.
These are the Signs of the Clear Book. That which has been Revealed unto you from your Lord is the Truth; but, yet, some people still do not Believe in God.
Allah is He who raised the heavens, without any pillar. It is firmly established on the Throne of Authority. He subjects the sun and the moon to His command; each one running its course for an appointed term. He regulates all affairs, explaining the Signs in detail, so that you may Believe with certainty of the meeting with Him.
And, He spreads out the earth, and sets thereon mountains standing firm, with flowing rivers. And, fruit of every kind He made in pairs, two and two. He draws the night as a veil over the day. Behold, indeed, in these things there are Signs for those who Understand!
And, on the earth is diverse neighboring lands, and gardens of vines and fields sown with corn, and palm trees - growing out of single roots, or otherwise, watered with clear water. Yet, some of them, God makes more excellent than others to eat.
Behold, indeed, in these things there are Signs for those who Understand!
If you, O Prophet Muhammad. wonder at their lack of faith, then strange is their saying, "When we are dust, shall we then be brought into a creation renewed?"
In reality, they are those who deny their Lord! They are those around whose necks will be yokes of servitude. They will be Companions of the Fire, to dwell therein forever!
They ask you to hasten evil, over preference to good. You have seen come to pass before them many similar punishments! But, indeed your Lord is full of forgiveness for mankind for their evildoings. But, He is also strict in punishment.
And, the Unbelievers say, "Why isn't a Sign sent down to him from his Lord, if he truly is a warner, and to every people a guide?”
Allah knows what every female womb will bear, by how much the wombs fall short of birth, or if the child will live. Every single thing is in due measure before His sight.
He knows the unseen. He is the Most Great, the Most Exalted!
It is the same to Him whether any of you conceal your speech or declare it openly; whether one lies hidden by the night, or goes about freely by day for He is the All Knowing.
For each such person there are angels in succession, before and behind him that guard him by command of Allah. Indeed, never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change it themselves with their own souls. But, once God wills a people's punishment, there can be no turning it back, nor will they find any besides Him to help them,
nor any other to protect them.
It is He who demonstrates to you the lightning, by way both of fear and of hope. It is He who does raise up the clouds, heavy laden with rain!
The thunder exalts God with Praise of Him, and so do the angels, with reverent awe. The crackly thunderbolts race across the sky, striking where He wills it to.
Yet, there are people who dare to dispute about God.
He is the one with the Most Strength, The Supreme Power!
For Him alone is prayer in Truth; any others that they call upon besides Him,
do not hear them more than if they were to stretch forth their hands for water
to reach their mouths, but it never reaches them.
For, the prayer of those without Faith is nothing but futile wanderings in the mind.
Whatever beings there are in the heavens and the earth do prostrate themselves to Allah in submission, and with goodwill, or not: as do their shadows in the morning and evenings.
Say to them, "Who is the Lord and Sustainer of all the heavens and the earth?" Say, "It is Allah." Say to the Disbelievers, "Do you then take for worship and protectors other than Him, such as have no power either for good or for harm to themselves? "Are the UnSeeing equal to those who See? Or, are the Depths of Darkness equal to the Light?"
Or, do they assign to God partners who have created nothing as He has created, so that the creation seemed to them similar? Say to the Disbelievers,
"God (Allah) is the Creator of all things. He is the One, the Supreme and Prevailing."
He sends down water from the skies, and the channels flow therewith, each according to its due measure. And, the torrent bears foam that mounts up to the surface. Even so, from that ore which they heat in the fire, to make ornaments or utensils therewith, there is foam likewise. Thus, God does show with parables Truth and vanity. For the foam disappears like froth cast out; while that which is for the good of mankind remains on the earth.
Thus, does God set forth parables.
For those who respond to their Lord God, are all good things. But, those who do not respond not to Him, even if they had all that is the Heavens and on earth, and much more, they in vain would offer it for ransom. For them will be the terrible reckoning! Their abode will be Hellfire. What a bed of misery for them to lie on!
Is then one who Knows the Truth of that which has been Revealed from your Lord God like one who cannot see the Truth by himself?
It is the people who Believe in the Truth who are given Understanding of the Truth and receive pardon;
those who fulfill the covenant of God, and do not fail others in their words.
but, those who join together those things which God has commanded to be joined,
hold their Lord God in awe, and fear the Day of Judgment.
Those who patiently persevere, seeking the countenance of their Lord; establishing regular prayers; and spend out of the gifts God has bestowed upon them for their sustenance to others, secretly and openly; and, cast off evil with good,
for them there is the final attainment of the Eternal Refuge.
The Believers shall enter Gardens of Perpetual Bliss, as well as the Righteous among their forefathers, their spouses, and their offspring, and angels shall enter with them meeting
them at the Gate with the greeting,
"Peace unto you for those of you who persevered in Belief with patience!
Now, how excellent is the Final Home!"
But, those who break the Covenant of God, after having joined their word thereto, and cut apart those things which God has commanded to be joined, and worked mischief in the land; on them is the curse of Hellfire; for them is the terrible home!
Allah does enlarge, or grant by strict measurement, the sustenance which He gives to whomsoever He pleases. The wordly rejoice in the life of this world. But, the life of this world is but little comfort in the Hereafter.
The Unbelievers say, "Why isn't a Sign sent down to him from his Lord?"
Say to the Disbelievers, "Truly, God leaves astray whom He Wills to.
But, He Guides to Himself those who turn to Him with forgiveness;
those who Believe in Him, and whose hearts find satisfaction in the remembrance of Him alone. For, without doubt, in the remembrance of God do hearts find true satisfaction.
For those who Believe and do good deeds, is every blessedness,
and a beautiful place of final return.
Thus, have we sent you among a people, before whom other peoples have come and passed before them; in order that you might rehearse unto them what God has sent down unto you by inspiration.
Yet, they reject God, the Most Gracious? Say to the UnBelieving, "He is my Lord! There is no god but Him! In Him I place all of my trust, and to Him do I turn!"
If there were a Qur'an with which mountains were moved, or the earth were cloven asunder, or the dead were made to speak, this would be the one! But, truly, the command is with God in all things! Don't the Believers know that if God Willed it, He could have Guided all of mankind to the Right Path? But the Unbelievers, never will disaster cease to overcome them for their bad deeds, or to settle close to their homes, until God's promises comes to pass. For, indeed, God will not fail in His promises.
Mocked were the many Messengers before you. But, God granted relief from harm temporarily to the UnBelievers for a time, but in the End, will finally punish them.
Then, how terrible is God's punishment!
Is then He who stands over every soul and who Knows all, like any others? And, yet, they ascribe partners to God. Say: "But name them! Is it that you will inform Him of something that He does not Know on earth, or is this just a mere play of words?" No! To those who do not Believe, their pretence seems pleasing enough, but they are kept back from the Right Path. And, those whom God leaves astray, no one can Guide.
For them is a punishment in the life of this world. But, even worse, is the punishment of the Hereafter. And, they have no defender against God.
The parable of the Garden is that which the Righteous are promised! Beneath it are flowing rivers; perpetual is the enjoyment thereof, and the shade therein. Such is the End for the Righteous Believing people. And, the end of Unbelievers will be in the Fire.
Those to whom God has given the Book rejoice at what has been Revealed unto you. But, there are among the clans those who reject a part thereof. Say to them, "I am commanded to worship God, and to not join partners with Him. Unto Him do I call for help,
and unto Him is my final return."
Thus, God Revealed it to be a Judgment of authority in Arabic. Were you to follow your own vain desires after the Knowledge has reached you, then you will find neither protector nor defender against Allah.
God sent Messengers before you, and appointed for them their corresponding spouse and progeny. And, it was never the duty of a Messenger to bring a Sign except as God Commands, and with His Leave. And, for each time period, is a Revealed Book.
God does cast out or validates whomsoever He pleases.
And, with Him is the Preserved Slate of Revelation.
Whether He shows you within your lifetime part of what is Promised, or take to Himself your soul before it is all accomplished, your duty is to make the Message reach them.
It is God's part to call them to account for their deeds in life.
The Unbelievers say,"You are no Messenger."
Say to them, "Enough for a Witness between me and you is God, and those who have Knowledge of the Clear Book."
Amen
