73 the one wrapped

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

O Prophet Muhammad, who wraps himself in clothing,

Arise from your sleep, and pray through the night,

except for a part of it.

Or add to your prayer, if you like, and recite the Qur’an in precise verses.

Indeed, We will send down upon you God’s Revelation.

Indeed, the night hours are more conducive to joining your heart and your speech,

and more suitable for hearing and understanding the Qur’an.

Indeed, by day is prolonged work.

And, remember the Holy Name of your Sovereign Lord,

and devote yourself to Him with complete devotion.

He is the Sovereign Lord of both the East and the West.

There is no god besides Him.  So, accept Him as the One True God,

and put your Trust in Him, and rely upon Him.

And, be patient about what the DisBelievers say against you,

and avoid them with proper avoidance.

And leave to Me the matters concerning the Deniers of the Truth,

as well as those who commit excesses in life without charity,

and I will temporarily delay

harm coming to them for a little time.

Indeed, with Us for them are shackles in burning Hellfire,

and food that they cannot swallow, and a painful punishment.

On the Day the earth and the mountains will shake

and disintegrate like sand pouring down.

Indeed, We have sent you a Messenger who will be a witness over you,

just like we sent Moses to the Pharaoh.

But, Pharaoh disobeyed God’s messenger,

so We overcame him and seized him and his people.

O DisBelievers, how can you expect to avoid punishment on such a Day?

The heaven will break apart on that Day, and His Covenant is always fulfilled.

Indeed, this is both a reminder and a warning for mankind, so whoever wills,

may find the Lord’s Right Path.

Indeed, O Muhammad, your Sovereign Lord Knows that you stand

in prayer before Him for two thirds of the night, or perhaps less,

and so do those who stand with you.

And, Allah determines the length of both the night and the day.

He Knows that Muslims will not be able to pray all night due to hardship,

and, Allah has turned to you in forgiveness for that.

So, recite what is easy for you in the Qur’an.

He Knows that some of the people among you might be sick,

or travelling seeking the bounty of Allah,

or striving in God’s causes.

So recite the verses in the Qur’an that are easy for you,

and establish regular prayer, and give charity and contribute to God’s causes.

And, whatever good you put forward, you will find it with God.

And, that is the best and greatest reward of all.

Indeed, God is the Most Forgiving, and the Most Merciful.
