(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)
All you who Believe, do not take My enemies and your enemies as friends,
nor extend affection while they DisBelieve in the Truth that you Believe in.
They cast off the Prophet Muhammad and yourselves only
because you Believed in God, the Most Sovereign Lord.
If you strive in God’s cause, seeking His approval,
then do not take these people as your friends.
You confide in them, but I am Most Knowing
of what is said and what lays hidden.
And, whoever does so, has strayed far from the Right Path.
If they gain anything over you, they will behave as your enemy ,
harming you with their hands and their evil speech against you,
and they wish that you would DisBelieve.
On the Day of Resurrection, He will judge between you,
and neither your relatives, nor your children, will benefit you.
And, Allah is Seeing of all that you do in life.
There has already been an example set by Abrahim,
and those who were with him, who said,
“Verily, we will have nothing to do with you, nor whatever you worship,
other than Allah. We have forsaken you,
and there will forever be something between us until you Believe in God alone.”
The only exception was when Abrahim said to his father,
“I will certainly ask forgiveness for you,
but, I have no power against the Will of God.
O Sovereign Lord, to You we have relied,
and to You we will all be returned in the end.
And, to You, is our final destination.
O Sovereign Lord, do not let the DisBelievers torment us,
and forgive us Our Lord. And, You are the Most Exalted in Might,
the Most Praiseworthy, the Most Wise.”
There are other examples for anyone who has hope in Allah,
and the Last Day. And, whosoever turns away from Him,
you should know that Allah is free of need of you.
And, He is the Most Praiseworthy of All.
Perhaps, Allah will put peace between you and your enemies.
He is after all, the Most Competent to accomplish this,
and whatever else He Wills to do.
And, Allah is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
God does not forbid you to take friends those who do not fight with you
on account of your Faith, nor those who do not expel you from your homes,
nor does he forbid you from acting righteously and justly to them.
For, indeed, God Loves those who are just to others.
God only forbids you from making friends with
those who fight against you on account of your Faith,
who expel you from your home, or who aid in your expulsion from your home.
And, whoever does so, they are among those who do wrong.
All you who Believe, when a Believing person comes to you alleging Belief
examine those beliefs carefully.
But, Allah Knows best about the true nature of a person’s Faith.
And, if you Know the person to be a Believer,
do not return that person to the DisBelievers for that person is no longer
a fitting spouse for them,
nor will a DisBeliever ever be a lawful spouse to a Believer.
But, give the DisBelievers back whatever they may have spent on this Believer,
as a compensation for their loss.
And, there is no blame upon you if you then marry that person after giving
them their just compensation.
And, do not make marriage bonds with DisBelieving people,
but ask for your just compensation, and let the
DisBelievers ask for what they may have spent as well.
He will judge between you, and that is the Judgment of God.
And, God is the All Knowing, and the Most Just.
And, if you have lost any of your Ummah to the DisBelievers,
then subsequently receive something in return from them,
then give those whose spouses are gone the equivalent of what they lost.
And, act justly and fear God, if you are truly Believers.
O Prophet Muhammad, when someone comes to you pledging Belief,
that they will not associate any other with Allah,
that they will not steal, nor commit unlawful intercourse,
nor kill any of the children, nor give slander against another,
nor disobey you in what is Right,
then accept their pledge of Belief, and ask forgiveness for them from Allah.
For, indeed, Allah is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
All you who Believe, do not make friends with people with whom God is angry.
They have lost their reward in the Hereafter,
just as the DisBelievers have lost theirs.
