44 smoldering smoke

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

 

Ha, Meem.

By the Clear and Noble Qur’an,

verily, We descended it down on the Sacred Night.

Indeed, We came to forewarn mankind of the Day.

And, on that Night everything was made Clear and defined  –

every matter coming from the Heavens. 

Indeed, We came to send a Messenger from among the people,

as Mercy from your Sovereign Lord God.

Verily, He is the All Hearing, All Knowing.

God of the heavens and the earth, and everything in between them,

and in this is a Sign, if you are among the Clear Believers.

There is no God but Him; He gives life and created death.

He is your Sovereign Lord, and the

God of your first ancestors in the Garden of Eve.

But, some do not Believe, engrossed in entertaining themselves.

Then, keep an eye for the Day when the sky splits apart,

bringing an observable smoldering fire with smoke,

covering the inhabitants; this is an agonizing punishment.

They will say, “O Sovereign Lord, stop our suffering;

truly we are Believers.”

At that time, how will there be a reminder for them?

And, a Clear Messenger came to them.

But, they turned away from him, saying,

“He’s but a well informed madman.”

Verily, We will remove their suffering for a time.

But, the DisBelievers will revert to their DisBelief.

On Judgment Day, We will descend for the Final Accounting.

Indeed, We will reckon your deeds.

And, We had already put a trial before Pharaoh’s civilization,

and there appeared Moses to them,

saying, “Give to me God’s servants.

To you, I am God’s Messenger.

Do not turn away from God.

Verily, I have approached you with Clear Proof.

And, without a doubt, I have found refuge in my Sovereign Lord,

and your Sovereign Lord God, less you destroy me.

Just leave me be, if you do not Believe.”

And, in the end He called to his Sovereign Lord telling

him of the disobedient and disloyal people.

And, God said, “Set out then with My Servants by night.

Indeed, you will be pursued.

And, the seas I will part for you, and depart from the sea in safety,

while Pharaoh’s army will be defeated.  Indeed, His army is one to be defeated.”

And, how much did they leave behind them,

of gardens and streams,

their crops, and revered places,

and comfortable places where they pleasured themselves.

Therefore, We caused another civilization to replace them.

And, the heavens and the earth did not cry for them,

nor were they pardoned.

And, We most assuredly saved the Hebrews from the persecution -

from the Pharaoh. 

Indeed, Pharaoh was an arrogant one from among the DisBelievers.

And, We surely tested them selecting them above all others.

And, We provided them with Signs that were obviously a trial.

Certainly, they were saying, “This is nothing but our first death,

and we will not be resurrected from our graves.

If what you are saying is true, then bring back our dead ancestors.”

Are they better off then the Tubba’ people, and those before them?

We caused them to perish for they were perversely rebellious.

And, God did not create the Heavens and the earth, and

everything in between them, out of amusement.

And, He created everything in Truth, but many still do not Believe.

In reality, the Day of Judgment is the selected time for all of mankind –

the Day when one soul cannot avail another,

nor will they be saved –

except those who Believe in Him on whom He has granted Mercy.

And, most assuredly He is the Most Exalted in Power,

the Most Merciful.

And, the zaqqum tree will be the food for the DisBelievers,

which, like thick oil, will boil in their stomachs,

like boiling, scalding water.

And it will be commanded, “Take him and heave him into the middle of Hellfire,

then pour over his head the agonizing punishment.”

Further, it will be said, “Taste then of your punishment!

Indeed, you claimed in life you were the powerful, upper class one.

In reality, this is what you did not Believe in.”

On the other hand, the Righteous will rest in a protected and safe dwelling:

within Gardens and streams,

donning fine silken garments with brocade, gazing upon one another.

And, accordingly, We will marry them to pure and kind spouses,

with large beautiful eyes.

They will summon every kind of delicious fruit – in safety and comfort.

They will not perish therein, only in the first life, and He

will protect them from the torment of the Fire

as a reward from your Sovereign Lord.

That is the greatest achievement.

And, certainly, We made the Qur’an easy for you in your own language,

so that you might remember God.

But, be careful, O Muhammad; for surely they are wishing for your demise.
