37 the angels lined up

(In the Name of God, the Most Gracious, Most Merciful)

 

By the angels who are lined up in a row,

and those who compel the clouds in the skies,

and those who Reveal the Message,

verily, your God is the One,

Sovereign Lord God of all the Heavens and the earth,

and everything in between them,

Lord of the sunrise and sunset.

And, indeed, We adorned the nearest Heaven with stars,

as protection against all defiant evil spirits,

that they may not hear the Heavenly choir of angels,

and as protection from the meteors in the skies.

They are repelled; and for them is incessant punishment,

except for the one who steals a word from the angels,

but they will be pursued by a fiery flame, piercing them.

Then, ask them, O Muhammad, “Are they a more difficult

creation than our other creations?”

And, in reality, We made mankind from a special clay.

But, you ponder while they laugh at you,

And, when they are reminded about God, they forget.

And, when they see one of God’s Signs, they say,

laughing, “This is nothing but sorcery.

When we perish, and become nothing but dust and bones,

you say that we will be resurrected?

And, the our ancestors as well?”

Say to them, “Yes, and you will be shamed.”

The Horn will blow but one time on Judgment Day,

and all at once they will be paying attention.

They will say, “O misery to us!  This is the Day of Judgment.”

And they will be told, “This is the Day of Judgment you used to not Believe in.”

And, the angels will be commanded,

“Gather up those who have done evil, and those similar in nature,

and those they used to worship besides God,

and direct them to the path of Hellfire,

and then stop them; for they will be questioned about their deeds.”

They will be asked, “What is with you?  Why didn’t you help each other?”

But, on that Day, they will admit their defeat.

And, they will approach one another, blaming each other.

And they will say to their oppressors,

“Indeed, you steered us away from the Right Path.”

And, their oppressors will reply, “You were not Believers,

and we had no authority over you, you were a sinful people.”

So, our Sovereign Lord God’s Decree has befallen us;

indeed, we will taste of the punishment.

And, without a doubt, we did lead you astray; really,

we were perversely defiant.”

So, they will in fact on that Day be sharing in the punishment with them.

Really, that is how We punish those who commit evil.

They were the ones who, when they said there is no deity but God,

they were arrogant in DisBelief,

saying, “Are we supposed to leave our beliefs to a crazy poet?”

Rather, the Prophet came with The Truth,

confirming God’s Word from His former Messengers.

Indeed, the DisBelievers will taste of the horrible punishment,

and they will not pay except for what they used to do in life –

except God’s humble Servants.

They will have special sustenance from what God provides –

fruits of every kind; and they will be honored in the Gardens of Paradise

on thrones opposite one another.

And, a cup of the finest fruit nectar will be circulated among them

from a flowing Paradise spring,

fair and deliciously sweet;

with no unpleasant effect on them.

And, with them will be their devoted spouse, with kind oval eyes.

And, they will come up to one another, and ask about each other,

and one of them will say, “I had a friend on earth who used to say,

‘Do you really believe that after we perish, and become nothing

but bones and dust, we will then be rewarded?’”

He will reply, “Do you want to see?”

And, he will look at his DisBelieving companion

in the middle of Hellfire.

And, he will say, “By Allah, you almost destroyed me.

If not for God’s favor, I would have been of those sent to Hellfire.

So, we are only to die in the first life, and we will not be punished?”

In fact, this is the greatest achievement.

And, for the likes of this let those on earth work.

Is Paradise a better accommodation, than the tree that grows in Hell?

And, we have made the tree of zaqqum as torment for those who committed evil.

In reality, it was a tree growing from the bottom of Hellfire,

with fruits that resemble devil’s heads.

And, in fact, they will eat from it, filling their bellies.

Then, after it, they will drink from scalding boiling water.

And, indeed, their final destination is Hellfire.

If truth be told, they found their fathers astray from the Right Path,

and they hurried to follow them in their footsteps.

And, some of the former civilizations had also gone astray,

although We had sent to them Clear Messengers.

Then, look at the final outcome of those who were warned –

except, not God’s chosen Servants.

And, Noah had called upon Us, and We are the best in answering back.

And, We saved Noah and his family from the great flood.

And, We made his descendants to remain on earth,

and left for him kind blessings from among the later generations,

“Peace be upon Noah, among the worlds.”

Indeed, this is how we reward those who do Righteous good deeds.

Really, he was among Our Believing Servants.

And, the DisBelievers were drowned.

And, as a matter of act, Abrahim was like him,

when he approached his Sovereign Lord with a sincere heart,

and when he said to his father and his people, “ Who do you worship?

Is it false gods you desire other than God?

Then, how do you feel about the Sovereign Lord God, creator of all the worlds?”

And, Abrahim would look away from them at the stars,

and say, “In fact, you make me sick.”

So, they turned away from him, leaving him.

Then, he turned to the deities they were worshiping, and said,

“Do you even eat the offerings they give to you in sacrifice?

What is wrong with you that you do not speak?”

And, he struck the idol with a blow with his right hand.

Then, the people turned around and came running.

He said to them, “Do you worship that which you carve yourself,

when God created you and all that you do?

They replied, “Make a fire, and throw him into it.”

And, they intended harm for him, but We dishonored them.

And, he said, “I will go where my Sovereign Lord God orders me to;

He will be a Guide for me.”

He asked, “My Lord God please give me a righteous offspring.”

So, We gave to him the blessing of a calm boy child.

And, when reached the age when he could work, he said,

“O my child, I have seen a vision that I must sacrifice you,

so what do you think.”

The child responded, “O father, do as you are commanded to.

You will find me, if God wills me to be, of the strong in Faith.”

And, when they both submitted to God’s command, he

placed him down on his forehead,

and the angels called out to him, “O Abrahim,

you have submitted to His Will.

Indeed, you are among the Believers.”

Thus, We reward those who are subservient to His will.

And, as a matter of fact, this was a trial for Abrahim.

And, Allah sent him a ram to be sacrificed, instead of his son, Ishmael.

And, We left for him favorable mention from the latter generations:

“Peace be upon Abrahim.”

Thus, We reward those who do Righteous good deeds.

And, really, he was among Our Believing Servants.

And, we gave him the blessing of another son, Isaac,

a prophet from among the virtuous.

And, We blessed Isaac and Abrahim.

But, among his descendants are those who do Righteous good deeds,

and those who commit evil.

And, We also most assuredly blessed Moses and Aaron.

And, We saved Moses and his people from the great suffering they endured,

and We made them strong so they overcame Pharaoh.

And, We gave them God’s Holy Scripture, and We guided them on the Right Path.

And, We left them favorable mention among the latter generations:

“Peace be upon Moses and Aaron.”

Thus, We reward those who do Righteous good deeds.

And, undoubtedly, they were among God’s Righteous Servants.

And, also, Elias was among the Messengers as well, when he said to his people,

“Will you not fear God? You call upon this false idol Ba –

but forget the best of all Creators  - Allah, your Sovereign Lord God,

the Lord of your first ancestors, Adam and Eve.”

But, they turned away from him, so therefore they will be brought for punishment,

except for God’s chosen Servants.

And, We left for him favorable mention among the latter generations:

“Peace be upon Elias.”

Thus, We reward those who are conscious of God.

And, he was one of God’s faithful Servants.

And, Lot, too was among God’s Messengers.

So, O Muhammad, mention how We saved him and his family,

all except for his wife who remained with those who DisBelieved.

And, they were destroyed for their DisBelief.

And, you outdo them in the morning, and in the night.

So, will you not understand?

And, also, Jonah was among God’s Messengers.

Remind them of when he ran to his sinking ship,

and he cast lots to see who would abandon the ship to save the others,

and he would be of the Lost.

And, a large fish swallowed him for giving up on his people,

and having left them without God’s permission.

And, if he had not been of those who worship God,

he would still be in the stomach of the fish until Resurrection Day.

But, We cast him out onto the shore while the fish was ill,

and We sent a gourd vine over him to give him shade.

Thereafter, We returned him to his people of a hundred thousand or more.

And, they Believed, so we gave them the enjoyment of this life for a specific time.

But, ask of the DisBelievers, “Does your deity have daughters

 whilst we have sons?

Or, did We create the angels as God’s daughters

while they were witnessing mankind’s deeds?”

Undoubtedly, it is out of their own invented lies that they say,

“God has begotten a child,” when really, they are lying.

God does not bear neither sons nor daughters.

Why should you think this?  What brings you to this assumption?

Will you not be reminded of the Truth?

Or, do you have some clear authority to the contrary?

Then, produce some holy word that demonstrate this,

if you should be truthful.

And, some have even claimed lineage between the jinn and God,

but the jinn know that they will be punished for assuming this.

Exalted is God, far above from what they may associate with Him,

except for the few selected of God’s Servants who were sinless.

So, you DisBelievers, and whatever it is you worship,

You cannot tempt anyone away from His Path,

except the one who already is to enter and burn in Hellfire.

And, the angels say, “There is isn’t among us that does not have an assigned task.”

And, indeed, it is us who align ourselves for prayer.

And, without a doubt, we are among those who exalt and give praise to God.”

And, indeed, some would say, “If we had some sort of message

from these destroyed civilizations, we would have been selected as

the chosen followers of God.”

But, they DisBelieved in God’s Word,

and they are going to come to know the Truth.

And, Our Word has already come first for our followers, the Messengers,

and, without a doubt, they will be triumphant.

And, indeed, the Believers will be those who overcome.

So, leave them for a specific time.

And, observe them for they are going to See the Truth.

So, are they impatient for Our punishment?

But, when it descends upon them, then evil is the dawning

of the morning for those who DisBelieved.

And, leave them for a specific time.

And wait, for they are going to See the Truth.

Exalted is your Sovereign Lord God, the Lord of Truth and Might,

far above from what they associate with Him.

And, Peace be upon God’s Messengers.

And, exalt and give praise to Allah, Sovereign Lord of all the worlds.
